I think I understand the term "Lapidary," but am not sure. Could someone please clarify?

Lapidary is anything to do with working stones, cutting, polishing, tumbling, etc

a lapidary is also a person who polishes stone ,or a place where stones are worked. gemmaster

I think the word comes from "lapis"= stone (in latin).
