I need to take another trip out to O-w-l-h-o-l-e Springs, and I really don't like going out there alone. It's a mile south of the Death Valley border. From Death Valley Rd. (127) and the Wade Memorial, it's 22 miles west, down a very well graded gravel road. This is a 2 mile wide access corridor between Death Valley and Fort Irwin, legal to drive and hound. There's a massive Selenite deposit there, agates and jaspers galore, and all sorts of other stuff. I'll just be in "general collecting mode", with no major side trips. I want to get there around sunrise and leave around sunset, although I could be talked into an overnighter.
I'd like to do this real soon. If you'd like to join me, let me know. You'll absolutely collect as much material from there as you care to haul out. No such thing as a bad day there. You can easily find it on Google Earth if you'd like to have a peek at the area. Install the latest update, as new images have been applied for the area.

Hot? Nah, it aint hot. Hot starts next month and goes for a few months. It's actually cold here right now ... 71 degrees! Besides, even when it is hot, it aint bad at all if you're prepared for it. And when you're out there, pickin up cool rocks non-stop, weather can be as bad as it wants and it still doesn't stop ya. I was out there back in December when it was freezing cold and there were REAL high winds, and I opted to stay the night and have another day of it!
Seriously, come on up, Brother! I'm not lookin for someone to HELP me, just to come out there and do whatever they want. Whatever you collect, you take home.

I gave it lots of thought but it would do this ol' boy in We aint talkin about mountain climbing. It's mostly just walkin around picking-up rocks off the ground, with very low hills. Nothing particularly strenuous. There are roads throughout the area, so you park, get out and hound the immediate area, then drive to a different area. For Selenite, you pull your truck into the little canyon and load it right into your truck. For agate and jasper, you just walk up the washes between the hills, or walk the tops of the hills ... I avoid the up-down up-down up-down. I'll be looking for two different possible Celestine locations, but they're both in easy to access areas. I want to explore two old mines I haven't been-to yet, but you (or whoever else may want to go) don't need to go to them if you don't want. I can drive pretty close to them, and the walking will be about a mile total, with two 50' hills to cross. My main reason for going to these is that there's a good possibility that there's agate in the nearby rock, possibly similar to agate found in S-a-g-e-n-i-t-e Canyon.

LOL no takers yet ... but I kinda figured that when I first posted this. I was just hoping for a needle in a haystack.
For some odd reason, going out to a desolate desert area in the summer just doesn't appeal to some folks. I don't get it.

COME ON! I still need a victim buddy to go out there with me!
You know you need to get away for a well-deserved break ... some fun in the sun ... a real adventure! Aren't you tired of hounding the same old places, coming home with the same old stuff? Think of the stories and pics you'll be able to share with the relatives this Thanksgiving / Christmas / Passover / (insert your favorite family holiday here)! You'll see some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, historic mining ruins, Selenite canyons, gorgeous gemstones, wild burros, and ME! Well, an old desert rat in a beat-up pickup truck might not be anything to write home about, but the rest is awesome.
So get off your keaster and get it out here!

Nope, it's still down, but I know how I can fix it now. Just have to come-up with the money to do it.

It wasn't a job, it was just doing some work for the landlord to work-off some rent.
I worked for him 3 days last week. He said he was going to work me some more this week, but I haven't heard from him. Par for the course here in Pahrump. All I can do is see what tomorrow may bring.
