I received some amazing fluorite gift slabs from June (kewlimages) and cabbed some this morning. Thanks June!!

Wow.. those are beauties! I have trouble getting fluorite to fully polish. I guess it has to be done by hand;).

Hell yeah. The trick to polishing fluorite is to spend some time on the 3000 grit polishing wheel and stop there (same with calcites). I don't use the canvas wheel with diamond paste because the slightest heat will shatter it like a bullet in a windshied. Start with the second wheel and skip the third wheel (Genie).

Beauties, both of them!
Yeah I made that mistake trying to polish a killer piece of rainbow I had cabbed. Hit the leather disk and watched in horror as it snapped crackled and popped right before my eyes.

Actually diamond paste works great with fluorite on a flat lap as long as you use FULL stream water and slow speed on felt! I do mine to 14K. Never tried fluorite on my wheels though???

I tried tumbling fluortite and it went horrible even with corn cob and all the recommended stuff methods. Now after seeing this I might have to give cabbing it a try. Yours turned out awesome.

Wow! Those are most excellent cabs. Now I need to work on getting mine to shine so nice. Thanks for sharing Randy and giving some hints on how you get them that way.
