Found some notes on Louisiana and Mississippi agates on the agate collection website for Nebraska State Natural Resources. This is a good site in that it lets you search out names and by geography for a many sites in the world. snr.unl.edu/data/geologysoils/agates/agatesdatabase.aspxSimilar agates depicted for both states. Agates that have been found in the gravel deposits of southern Mississippi probably originated in marine sedimentary rocks of Paleozoic age that crop out in the Nashville Dome of Tennessee. These agates were eroded from their northern source and carried by streams of Pliocene and Pleistocene ages into Mississippi, where they have been found in gravel of both modern streams and terraces of ancient streams. Dockery (1995) stated that the agates are now found in what geologists call the Citronelle Formation. Dockery also indicated that marine invertebrate fossils found in these gravel deposits are mostly of Devonian and Mississippian age. If any of these agates are ever found with included fossils, they may shed some light on the actual age of the agates.

Some really nice stuff in that mix. Should be nice tumbles if that is the plan.

Did you use public or private access? What's the statute of limitations on things of this sort? It's a four year old post!
