Hello. I acquired a slab of something labeled as "disseminated turquoise" from Zaire, Africa. Anyone know what that means?

I would take it to mean that the turquoise is spread throughout the host rock among the other minerals. I've never heard of it before.

Agree. It has turquoise in combination with other minerals and types of rrocks. Can be very beautiful. Have purchased beads of this in the past.

Thanks all. Sounds like it's less valuable material because it's heterogeneous.

Thanks all. Sounds like it's less valuable material because it's heterogeneous. Value on turquoise varies a lot depending on a variety of factors including the type of turquoise and what country it is being sold in. For example in the Middle East a pure robin egg blue is preferred and more valuable. Veins in the rock are seen as flaws. As where in the U.S. the veined material is considered more desirable. Then there are very valuable forms of turquoise that look nothing like what we generally think of when it comes to turquoise. Here is the best turquoise pricing guide I have ever come across: tskies.com/value-turquoise/
