I finally had a couple hours today to get back to the silver and even got to try the split bail from radio's tutorial. I really like it. Here is the homemade bail next to a few store bought ones. Homemade is much more robust. Thanks for looking, Chuck

Those are looking great there Chuck! Glad the tips came in handy for you Now we gotta help you get rid of the notch in the points of the bezel Some ways to help with folding the bezel without wrinkling or using a notch to prevent a wrinkle at a point: A perfectly straight wall on the cab below the girdle, uniform girdle height around the cab, keep the folded over bezel at a bare minimum by elevating, leveling or cushioning the cab in the bezel cup, fold the point first, then work away from the point on both sides, stay away from really sharp points, use the bezel roller first, then finish up with the burnishing tool. Next lesson is embellishing the mount with twisted wire, Silver beads, etc

Those are looking great there Chuck! Now we gotta help you get rid of the notch in the points of the bezel Points have me gun shy for sure. My answer to that was not to cab with points anymore. Happy to say these five all sold to a gift shop. Now I am hoping they can sell them and order more. Chuck

LOL! I went back and edited my post with additional tips, so we were typing at the same time. Congrats on the sale of the cabs!!! You will find that as your skills improve, your pieces will command a higher price. The split bail is elegant, yet simple and adds a nice touch to most mounts. I still fabricate a few from 22 ga sheet, but most are split. There are a couple of designs in patterned wire that can also be used as a split bail. Item #112809 and #112810 work well www.sfjssantafe.com/SwireItems.php?Gid=SS014&ItemSet=Sterling+Silver+Specialty+Wires&DepId=metals
