Going to be flying to Texas for a family Christmas. Anyone have any recommended rockhounding or rock shops in the Abiline area?

Yep, have you ever thought about adopting a 54 year old. I'm potting trained, sleep alnight and will talk to you while rock hounding.

Sounds like you have some darn nice skills there The wife and daughter do not share my passion for rocks so it would be nice to have someone around who does not think i am crazy for wanting to go out and play in the dirt. We don't know eachother too well yet so you would have to come with your own tools. You don't ask to borrow another man's tools until you get to know him back where i come from

Only advice I can add is, keep your head down. Abiline has just been named the murder capitol of Texas.

That is the neat thing about rock hounding. There is usually a lot of room to bring along friends. Seriously guys and girls. Last time i checked Texas was a pretty large state, someone has to know about a good rock shop or location around Abiline. I do appreciate the advice on avoiding the high velocity lead poisoning in Abiline. I am particularly allergic to it I have quite enough holes in my head. I don't need any more.

There is a good rock club there but only rock shop I knew about closed. I think you can find some limestone fossils in Brown county. Maybe contact the club for advice. Look up through the AFMS affiliated club listings. We collected with them years ago but went down to Stillwell Ranch in Big Bend area.
