I stopped by Quartzite Friday and snagged a couple of trashes (damned spell check - that was supposed to be treasures) from Tony. The vendors appear more numerous than ever before. It was a quick stop in route to San Diego but great fun to see people, rocks, and sunshine. Everyone should go once if not annually. Thanks Tony (Catmandew )

Looks like I will not be able to go this year. The due date for my first grandchild and first girl, has been changed from first or second week of February to "anytime" but probably the last two weeks of January.
I had been looking forward to going and meeting other RTH'ers, but a grandbaby trumps rock hounds lol

If you r still driving the lil yaller truck that has lots of flats then bring a bunch of spares. LOL The tire companies luv yer truvk!!! LOL When I am out there I haul 3 truck spares and three trailer spares! You know what? Just out of pure spite and orneriness I tracked down the flattireite and now know exactly where it is. And to make matters worse, it is so easy to get to, we never should have gotten lost.

The big show - the PowWow starts up on the 18th. If you stay through the 21st there's the potluck BBQ at Tony's booth at Desert Gardens. The Tyson Wells swap meet is up the same weekend (not sure of the dates) but it seems like more of a "Brazilian geode" touristy thing with a smattering of good rock dealers but I could be wrong. We've avoided it every time there due to the traffic congestion.

For those of us who have never been to Quartzite it would be interesting if someone would post some photos of the dealers setups and tables.

@bluesky, were the second & third pix the booth of a guy from Minnesota named Ron? It looks familiar. I bought from him a couple of times. Lynn

No that's the utah guy who used to sell a bunch of yellow feather jasper. He's gone this year or someone else is running his booth anyway - he's now selling only equipment and tumbles but same tent and same spot I think (the pics are from a couple years ago). I could be wrong about him being from Utah but it's definitely the yellow feather guy. Susan

Weeelllll, I guess I should make it official. Once again, we are not going to be able to make it to Quartzsite this year. That is two years in a row. Boooo. Despite my vacuous ramblings of exactly a month ago, it is ultimately finances (specifically, lack of funds) that will keep us staying home this year.
What really sucks is, it's like a Catch 22 situation. Let me explain. We had to recently dump over $550 into our trailer (brakes, drums, hubs, wheels bearings, tail lights and new stabilizer jack) to make it safe. The money would have more than paid for the gas to go to Q. The trailer is ready, but now no money to go. How deliciously ironic, no? (Just joshing you there. I am too old to be a hipster, lol.)
I guess it is better than the alternative, an unsafe trailer. The worst we have had happen on the way out there is a tire blowout (only one flat, had a spare...). Happened just east of Yuma, was able to change it in a lit, paved parking lot, back on the road in ten minutes. Tire just got old, it should already have been replaced. I'm thinking Mother Nature may not treat you well this next week, but we can only hope for the best. Have fun, I will miss you all! Jean

I am thinking of heading over tomorrow after church. I am so spoiled living so close. One and one half hour and I am there! Sheri
