I said I'd make something since the board is so slow. I've got one piece finished, and 2 half finished. However, I haven't silversmithed for at least 6 months and am a little unhappy with my results. Practice, practice. Rhodochrosite always reminds me of bacon for some reason. This is a pretty large ring but does not interfere with movement. I know blown up it looks like there are some gaps in the bezel, but even with 20/15 vision I can't see it without the benefit of a photo. I had to do some fiddling since the stone is freeform and not flat. The band is very plain, hence no photo, but it's the first time I've made a fitted band and not just a round band soldered to the piece. If you can figure that out, good. And of course at the very end I scratched the stone. I managed to buff most of it out. And then the oxidizing compound left little black marks in tiny pockets in the stone, but again you can't see them in real life. Also, I like a sloppy finish. I only buffed out some of the oxidation. It just didn't look good bright and shiny. Forgot how nasty pickle is. Nearly gassed myself neutralizing it with baking soda. Oh what we go through.... So here is my new ring. Will post the other projects when finished.

Nice piece.
Changing of the seasons here, hoping to try smithing something again soon myself.

Hopefully I'll get the ammolite in a setting today. I hope it turns out well.
