Will be heading into Kentucky shortly after 1st of the year. Would love to find some geodes or agates to bring home. Anyone rockhounded Kentucky geodes that has good information on accessible creeks, streams ,fields etc?. Google info seems outdated and does not take the place of good old word of mouth lol . Thanks Frank

What area in KY are you headed to? There's fluorite in the West, but the geodes are in the Central KY area. I've been at this a year now and have hit a few places, some even with success. A lot of different types of geodes out there. KY agate is the real prize, but near impossible to find. I hound for that in someone else's rock pile. Here's an album I put together. Hopefully, I'll get to add some more now that it's winter and most everyone else is out of the creeks.
KY rockhounding

Looking at central or Eastern side as we have another Army graduation to attend in Columbia SC. Open to any solid leads to try and find geodes and the wonderful agate if the rock gods deem me fit to receive lol.

To be realistic, I can name off some counties where you can definitely find Kentucky geodes: Lincoln, Rockcastle, Madison, Jackson, Garrard, Powell, and Elliott. Not all rivers will yield geodes. Better be prepared for cold water and chilly winds this time of year.
I would love to hound some geodes with another individual for a change! I know places in Rockcastle and Lincoln counties. All navigable streams and waterways are open to the public. The problem is finding places where someone can get around a person's property to gain access to a creek or river. There are ways, though.
I have no vehicle, and walking during this time of year is dreadful, especially walking a mile or so to a creek and back to get some geodes...
