I'll be meeting some 'old' RTHers in Alpine, TX the week of Feb. 19-25, 2017.
Anyone want to join us?
We'll probably hunt with Teri Smith a day or 2. We'll definitely hunt Stillwell Ranch.
Later, jeri

Stillwell has lots of wood and moss agate. Great place and prices reasonable when we were there.

This sounds like a great trip and Teri comes with a great reputation for finding good spots to hunt.

Alpine, TX is where the Woodward Ranch (WWR) was. Starting in 2007 RTHers had the WWR Blitz there for a few years. WWR is closed, but similar agates can be found in the area. Teri Smith has access to 4 or 5 other ranches in the area. Most notably (in my mind) is the Singleton Ranch south of Marfa where plume and even bouquet agate is found. I've brought home GREEN, black and other colors of plume agate from there. Here's a link to Teri's website>>> linkStillwell Ranch (AKA Stillwell Store) is 70 miles south of Alpine, near the entrance to Big Bend National Park on Hwy 385. Last year the price was 50 cents per pound for rocks. There is an amazing variety! Check out this thread for pics>>> beefjello's pics Here's a link to Stillwell RanchIf anyone is interested in going, I'll find the threads for past trips and post links to them. Later, jeri

I just got an email from Teri, they will be hunting the Walker Ranch, Feb 9th,10th,11th,12th and 13th. It is not on her web site so I would think you should call or email her on the detail for the hunt if you want to go, I believe there is a deposit. I missed the last hunt on the Walker by a couple of days....so sad. I am going to miss this one too.

What's to find in these places? I found lots of moss and a pretty cool fossilized pearl on the shell at Needle peak, A nice piece of boquet, some moss and a bunch of botrydal (sp) along with some black plume at Singleton. Well worth the trip. Brought back 7 or 8 5 gal pails of material.

Wish I could make the trip and meet all the RTHers, but got to work (High School girls soccer still in season). I am planning to go in April for week with Teri.
Hope you have a rockin' time. I love Texas agates.

Welllllllllll, the other RTHers have dropped out of this trip for one reason or another. Looks like I won't have any competition for the agates this trip. Later, jeri
