It's very hard to pick 10 names or 1000 or even more. There is something here. In every post, in every response. We are all a bunch of ....rockers, rock heads, whatever. Telling stories about hounding, trips, collections just everything. Laughing by yourself when you read some posts. Sometimes posts get rough(you know what I mean.) but the bottom line, a RTH'er will help anther RTHer out whenever they can or anybody with help anybody, if they can. GOD made friends so we can all get along.
And RTH is full of friends.

And though we heckle them from time to time, As I'm not Chinese, I don't mind. And very often, I do completely agree with statements made. I only ever take exception when statements are made that indicate local problems created here. Its just a fact that greed is universal, so no need to single out one nation or a people. This and one other forum has been my way into this hobby. Only because of so many friendly and helpful members, was it possible to get to where I am now. Can't and never will be able to be grateful enough to repay for what has been given to me through RTH. I have many idols here, some have come and gone, others have moved on to rock-heaven, and others yet have left forums largely behind in favor of other platforms (guilty of that myself). Yet I still look forward virtually every day to check in, to see posts by creative minds the like of Fossilman, Bikerrandy (still envy his ability of creating those fab triplet combos, Tommy, rockjunquie, Adan, and of course discourses with gemfella, glennz01 and jack of all trades jamesp, just to name a few.

kk China has become a giant team. Disciplined and efficient. They will(are) rule(ing) the manufacturing world. Nothing but respect for their effort. The blame should be placed on a lazy US contracting out hard work to a hungary China. Whilst we give our jobs away. More and more Chinese made components are being used. That is just old fashioned capitalism. Their quality is on the rise. And they are looking ahead with their massive nuclear power campaign. (avoiding nuclear politics) Their motives no different than any other world power. Looking as if they are accomplishing their goal.

Thank you Scott! It's a blast knowing all on here......However my hero has disappeared on here? Connrock got me started with solving my tumbling problems and really got me out of a hole with the Loto!!!
I think we need to give a shout to the folks that regularly sell us great deals as both occasional venders and also full time venders. Jsgems, Catmandew, The Rock Shed, Roy, NDK, and many more!
But let us not forget the giving supportive presents to newbies on RTH. Tela and Donnie, Mark/Marinedad and Jamesp and many more. They sent me rough, slabs, preforms, cabs and even tumbles so I could get started! Since then I have seen them send many others gifts!!!
RTH ROCKS!!!

Thanks for mentioning me, those of you that have. I have been here since March 2012. Seems like yesterday. It is so hard to pick a single hero. I tend to think of them in terms of sections of the boards. I have mentioned 1dave and Drummond Island Rocks . I have to mention Bikerrandy for cabbing, also. If it wasn't for his extreme generosity in teaching me how to cab and use the genie, I probably would not have learned to do it. He is my rock hero. I had wanted to cab for so long, but the process was a mystery to me. So, Randy, thank you for that and for all you have done here at RTH, including- and, not least of all- for inviting me to RTH.

Hard to quantify a hero. Some special new additions have come along. They may not have 'seniority'. Productive and forward moving people with large levels of energy, personality and ideas. Hats off to you guys.

Wow, actually too many to make a list. Being in an area with few rockhounds, no longer in any clubs, and married to a gal who don't like hearing about rocks, you RTH lot are lie an extended family to me. One of the high points of every day is stopping by to see what folks have created, or found, or bought, or need identified. Keeps me connected to the rock luvin world.
John Sands was always a favorite of mine and I admired his wry commentary and absolutely wonderful cabs. I envy and admire all you wrappers and carvers with your hands much less clumsy than my own. James, man you just tickle me with your stories and happy go lucky lifestyle and your coral makes me drool. And who could dislike someone who post pics of puppies! John, your knowledge of equipment and ready help are always so welcome. Capbob, what can I say, a good rock buddy and we are politically similar curmudgeons even though you are young. Like you even with that dang ponytail that to us bald guys, is braggin. Since I love arguing politics or arguing period ( ask my wife *L*) I love everyone in the life and universe section. Love all you great photographers too. Great to see what other people like to take pics of and the vicarious rock trips absolutely rule. Love old Harley (agatemaggot) with whom I have long winded phone chats about everything at intervals. And I miss ole Lowell and hope he returns soon. He was one of my favorite folks I left behind in Commiefornia. Scott and other snake lovers, you all rule too. Anyone who loves crawlies is a good'un in my book.
This by no means should be taken as shorting those I did not mention cause I enjoy you all (even the Democrats *W*). Been here a few years and I never find it boring. Thanks to everyone who makes the RTH the great community it is....Mel

Yikes, even though I look at every post I can find and have always done so, as he was one of the first to give me/us advice, I completely left out bobby1. It was he, who drilled us from the beginning, to try and achieve the best possible results.

I got a rock tumbler for Christmas in 2012. I knew nothing about rocks or minerals, had never collected, and had never seen a cabochon that wasn't a precious gem of some type. I found RTH in January 2013 and started learning about tumbling rocks. I pretty much lived in the Tumbling forums for a couple months. Not going to lie, I tried to like rock tumbling but it just didn't take with me. I started looking in the cabs forum and came across this post, Noreena jasper, by Randy, Bikerrandy . I had never seen anything like the Noreena Jasper before and I knew nothing about making a cab, nothing about equipment; but I knew I wanted to learn how to make them. Randy became a great source of inspiration and information on cutting cabs. He even sent me a slab of Noreena to cut. I started hitting the equipment threads and asking questions. Daniel, deb193redux , quickly became my "go to" person for advice on equipment and equipment repair. His advice and guidance on buying and fixing used equipment helped make acquiring equipment affordable. Once I started making cabs, I needed to "do something" with them. Wire wrapping! Tela, rockjunquie , quickly became my main source of information. I stalked her posts and then her Etsy site, trying to learn how she made all those awesome wraps. Others who have been inspirational, encouraging, informative, influential, kind... Tommy , fossilman , jamesp , Drummond Island Rocks , Sabre52 , beefjello , 1dave , @shotgunner , orrum , adrian65 , herchenx , tntmom , paulshiroma , The Dad_Ohs ....too many to list them all... I love RTH and am grateful to everyone here. It is a wonderful community of caring and generous people.

What a great post, Dave! And thank you for your appreciation. In my vision, the list won't be complete without two top artists we have the luck to have here: stoner, whose amazingly beautiful cabochons drew me (and probably many more of us) into cabbing; bobby1, a complete artist whose work might be the definition of perfection. PS. Now that my memory wheels started spinning, I'd like to add one more member on the list: mossyrockhound (Garry) who seems to have laser precision in his eyes and hands and whose creations are so complex. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/27305/agate-candy-dish-3-intarsiaforum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/29458/intarsia-cabochons

As I said, I have heroes for each section. For Life, the Universe and Everything there are so many who bring thought to diverse topics, but I have to say that @shotgunner and captbob are my equal heroes there. Bob can always be counted on to give it his all and to share great memes. Scott has a way of pulling back and asking the tough questions. Not to leave out the underrepresented side of things chassroc deserves praise for interjecting another perspective while maintaining civility (usually ). And, of course, I have to mention helens (Helen).
