loved dogs when I was a kid. All I can do to take care of myself now. Feed the birds in my back yard to get them through the winter, but even that is coming to an end.

Hey jamesp , that workshop is the perfect setup for a little game. Who can find and name the 8 items in the second picture that don't belong?
At second glance, you'd be hard pressed to find something that doesn't belong in that pic. Thanks for sharing James, hope you didn't get your butt busted too bad.

Dang, HankRocks !!!! You have some serious rockage on those shelves. Are the flats labeled or inventoried somehow?

Holy crap indeed! That's a LOT of flats!! What's in them flats - rough rocks or specimens?
I didn't know Highland Park made such an arbor (in a picture you didn't post above).
Looks like you don't use your Raytech LS-10 saw. Don't like it or does your Lortone cover that size rocks better?
That building/room looks like my ideal vacation spot.
ETA: slurry buckets for what? You have tumblers other than the vibe?

Answers to questions in the order they were asked;
Address - Texas, the "open carry" State. That an anyone entering might injure themselves trying to get around. (A big thanks for stepping up to keep this board going, it's my favorite on the Web)
The Flats are in bad need of high-grading. They are a combination of minerals from Colorado, Big Bend, and Arkansas(quartz), some were collected 30 years ago when my eye for quality was not so good. There are also flats of vib-lap polished halves, Geodes, Agate and Petrified Wood which is what I did before I started slabbing and making Preforms. I went through about 4 or 5 flats of polished the other day and 30 to 40 % should never have been polished and instead been broken up for the tumbler or worse used as erosion control.
I do have all of them labeled, although the permanent marker writing has faded badly on the oldest ones. As I mentioned, waiting for a less hectic schedule in March and or April to start a major high-grading project. Will probably cut down about 30% pretty easy, hopefully more. My preliminary cleanup has sent 15 - 5 gallon buckets of really questionable stuff to my friends ranch for erosion control.
You can't see the rough, it's in two rock gardens and about 40-50 5 gallon buckets, plastic and steel milk crates and a few odd containers here and there. The rough also needs to get better organized.
I bought the Highland Park arbor with two 8" Expando Drums, the table, and about 25 - 8 inch Belts including 3 used Diamond belts for about $225 from a guy north of Austin. It fit in the back of my Truck under the bed cover by about 1/2 inch! I am not sure if it's an original or a put together hybrid. It runs good.
The LS-10 needs cleaning badly. It's on the list although I keep pushing that down as cleaning a saw is worse than a root canal!. A friend gave me a brand new Raytech 10 inch slab saw, sans motor. It's also on the list.
One of the two 15 lb Thumlers model Rotary is just visible in the bottom of the first picture. Unfortunately I cannot run everything at once as the circuit to the garage is not big enough. A complete garage re-wire adding 3 more 20 amp circuits is also on the list.
Since I was "retired" last year I have been very busy and the list just grows. Will never be bored and that is a good thing. Did I mention my Garden.......?

Henry, I just showed my wife your flats wall. Thinking she would think I'm not so bad after all.
Instead, she asked for your name and number "so when you croak I know who to call"
*sigh*

It's funny that I only have one decent size curio cabinet in the house with rocks, sort of a "best of". No other rocks anywhere to be seen. The garage however has become my Rock Kingdom. Of course I do subscribe to the Rockhound's mantra, "I need more rocks". My wife just shakes her head and tolerates as it does keep me out of bars!!
Just remember the old Red Green show quote, " If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy"
