I have been occupied lately and haven't been present here much the last few weeks. We unexpectedly lost Remy, our Labradoodle, and the family took it hard. That was one good dog, perfect for anyone with kids. We soon started a search for a new dog to help our Australian Shepherd, Roxy, deal with lonely days while we are away at work/school. After finding what we wanted and a long haul to pick her up, we have had Luna, a miniature Australian Shepherd, at the house for a week now. She will end up basically half the size of Roxy, but with all the same traits. They are active dogs, but smart and trainable. Her schedule fits mine pretty well. Sleep for a few hours, get up, fool around a bit, then sleep some more. So, the nights haven't been too bad, but there is very little free time for me. Barrels are past cleanout time, a couple finished batches not photographed, no cutting, etc. I know that won't last forever, so it's all about a different kind of patience for now. Anyway, you may have heard, I like to take pictures, so here are a few of the cast of characters around my house. Feel free to add pics of your furry, scaled or feathered companions.
Luna
Roxy
Peaches and Cookie - a.k.a. The Pigs
Getting acquainted
Remy (2010-2017) (The swim goggles were a thing for a few days. Who knows???)
The pup has definitely lifted spirits around the house, I'm hearing lots of laughter. Once we get her housebroken, there will be more time to get back to hobbies. Thanks for looking and don't forget to add your pet pics.

I'm sorry for your loss. The new ADORABLE puppy will surely help with the pain. Too cute! I didn't know they came in miniature. How big will she get? I love the picture with her big fur brother.

Thanks, Tela. Luna was the runt, so the breeder is curious to find out how big she gets. Her mom was 16", 32 lbs. The dad was a little smaller. She expected Luna to be around 14" and 25 lbs. She is one little firecracker though. No fear and very outgoing.

We'll be heading right thru your neck of the woods after Memorial Day if you need someone to stop over and clean out those barrels!! Congrats on the new addition to the family.

Sorry for your loss, Randy. It's amazing how much an animal can entwine itself around your heart.
Luna is an adorable little lady. Looks a lot like pups a dog of ours had when I was young.
Gotta comment on "The Pigs" too. I just love them too. Had 1 for several years here. Long haired white with a black patch over 1 eye, named Mimi. She ate like a queen. Every time I'd go in the fridge for vittles & crinkle the packaging, she's start wheeking loudly. Loved that!

Throw in a good yard cleaning and you've got a deal! I'll even let you clean out barrels without me watching. Ha! Thanks Dave.
Holler when you are heading thru.

Every time I'd go in the fridge for vittles & crinkle the packaging, she's start wheeking loudly. Loved that! I drove my mom nuts growing up. Always bringing something home, mostly stray cats. She poo-poo'd the idea of letting any of the snakes or spiders I caught in the house. I think the ferret was her least favorite. I'll always have animals around and my kids are animal lovers too. I tell them that if you're going to have pets, then losing them is part of the deal. It never gets any easier, and it shouldn't.
My youngest asked for a guinea pig for Christmas a few years back and we tried to resist it. My wife isn't as animal crazy and I knew I would get cleanup detail. I ended up finding a pet store somewhat nearby that was open on Christmas Eve. Got there 10 minutes before they closed. I'm a pushover. Got the second one a few days later after reading that they are social creatures. They hang out in the basement with me and I get a kick out of how vocal they are with each other. They squeak, squeal, chatter, rumble and grunt. And you're right, when the crinkly yogurt treat package comes out, they whistle loudly. Odd little critters, but very friendly. Never had them bite me like my ferret did. They love to go outside and eat clover in the yard. If I had a herd of 'em, I'd never have to cut grass.

Best post ever. Well at least, today!!
Super happy family is a good thing. Dogs are a good thing.
Thanks for the pics. Well done.
::::
I love guinea pigs. I had a breed of G'pig called Cuy. They are straight from Peru and the males get 11#!
Lisa lasted about 4 years. Recently croaked. She cruised the yard free range with my tortoises. Need to sell those beasts.

She had many places to hide. She was also very aware. When hawks flew by, she hit the tunnels fast! Heck if she saw me at the back door she hit the tunnels. I wanted to start a small herd and watch them graze the yard. But the males never survived past 2 days for some reason. Hootie? Ya got blowfish too? Lol

Randy you may want to read up on the yogurt treats. Info I got was it's not good for them.
Mimi had an amazing diet. Fresh greens every day along with plenty of fruits and veggies. I loved getting fresh dandelion and clover from the fields nearby. Funny she didn't care for alfalfa tho. She ate better than me! LOL Would get another in a heartbeat but with 1 in college and the other headed there this fall the timing isn't right.

Like yours, mine prefer fresh treats. Strawberries and blueberries are their favorites, but again not too often. Baby carrots and dried apple are hits as well. Plenty of timothy hay, fresh clover, greens, and a foraging mix of seeds and leaves make up most of their diet. They get excited whenever they see me get anything out of the refrigerator down there, they know it's some sort of treat. If you do get another some day, get two. They interact all day long, funny to watch.

Mine at fresh grass and lawn weeds for the bulk of her diet. Seasonally tangerines fell and she ate some of those. Weekly i would toss apples or carrots to her. Seasonally other stuff like pumpkin or zucchini....

I love my dogs. A wet, cold, nasty day. Working in my shed, I was taking it easy. The doors open and my white lab comes busting in, she hates wet weather...a lab. As she sits by the door looking at the rain and snow....thinking, boy is it nasty out today, turn up that heater a notch and shut these freakin doors. This footstool is my place... So beat it.

Now ya asked for it!
My family has always had pets. I will inflict on you only pictures of SOME of the dogs. At my parent's house. Only Minnie, at left rear is mine. Two at the right front and back were my sister's, the four most in the middle lived there.
We have always had female (spayed) dogs. The yellow lab was the only male dog - ever.
The next batch of dogs, all the previous ones were gone. No duplicates! Shadow at rear left and Spunky front and center were mine. The two upper left my sister's, the brown ones on the couch lived there at my parent's house.
Minnie and Leroy (belonged to an old boyfriend). Leroy's mom was Maggie, the Irish Setter looking one, back row in the first pic.
Whyler, Timka (mine), Ripley, Sandy, Shadow (mine) at San Clemente Canyon.
Only one dog in this photo not named yet, which is Mollie, a later dog of my sister's. Beagle mix, second from right.
Cricket the water dog at Alamo Lake.
Spunky on stump in our front yard. Found dog.
Spunky in desert. Natural stub tail, we're pretty sure she was Queensland heeler and Chow.
Dogs just gotta have fun.
Took a couple photos, then picked it up after I quit laughing.
A young Lucy on her throne in the desert.
Cali, my SIL's dog when she lived with us.
Cali in the desert. IN MY CHAIR, lol.
Cali kicking back on the couch.
Action shot - Cali kicking Lucy's butt!
None of the fur children picture here are still alive, all gone to that great dog park in the sky. I miss them all.
Thanks for putting up with me.

This is Lucy. She was really sneaky. I ran her head over with my truck. It broke me inside.

This is Lucy. She was really sneaky. I ran her head over with my truck. It broke me inside. I am so sorry to hear that! How horrible. I know it was tough on you. My SIL ran her dog over with the John Deere riding lawn mower. He lost a leg and was never the same after that. She still feels horrible about it. I can only imagine your trauma.
