Oh, well. Looks similar terrain-wise a bit...at least from what I recall. Neat area nonetheless.

There are quite a few places in Southern Nevada that have terrain similar to Red Rock. Personally my favorite place around here is Valley of Fire, which is way more beautiful than Red Rock.

The heck with the scenery, that is the coolest dog. In the fourth pic he must be up to something. He is looking at you out the corner of his eye. Maybe he found a cool rock and stepping on it so you want notice. Dogs name?

Great pictures, I was thinking that looked like the Lake Mead area. We've been to Red Rocks and Valley of Fire-both too crowded for me. Looks like the pup is doing well.

Good to know. Red Rock was the most obvious guess for my pea brain. Never heard of Valley of Fire - then again, I don't get out there much. Maybe that will have to change since I have more family out there now. Thanks for the suggestion...I'll have to add it to the list. Dave

Her real name was Trixie, but she was in the woman's prison, where I picked her up, for 4 months in the Puppies for Parole Program where they renamed her Jax. I like Jax a lot better and so kept that name since she was also already chipped under that name. She has her own Facebook page, Jax the Rock Hound www.facebook.com/groups/1486250484734031/

Her seat. Apparently I am not ready because I have no clue what black hole you are talking about unless you are referring to the Raiders.

It butts up to the Lake Mead National Recreational Area. You can get there by going I-15 North then taking the Valley of Fire turnoff, or my favorite is coming in from the Lake Mead side since this takes you over a small pass and you get a great view of the whole area from that high. Lots of red and other colored sandstone, petroglyphs, some petrified logs, etc. I love Mouse's Tank area but it is very easy to get lost in the maze of canyons if you go in to far. And just beyond that is a beautiful painted desert. A lot more fun than the casinos.

A quick look at the map, however, made it much more clear. And, yes, I would agree with you - definitely alot more fun than the casinos. Last two times visiting family, I went nowhere near any of them. Regards. Dave

Thanks for sharing your trip. I never get tired of seeing that landscape, so different than what we have here. That's a mighty fine hounding/hiking companion you've got there too.

I love all of the pics, but especially those of your special doggie, Jax. Her own web page? Man, you have too much time on your hands, lol. Not that she doesn't deserve it. Thank you for sharing them, vegasjames.

Thanks for taking us along on your outing with Jax. Is she a Blue Heeler? I know many folks call them Aussie Cattle Dogs too. We rely on them a great deal in the cattle country of Montana.
