This is from my last prospecting and test pit at Hixon. Found this abandoned channel with the help of these two trees. Notice how the roots only go in one direction. Pines never have their roots in water. Could see it better if I didn't pile overburden by them. Random pictures of the set up. Test sluice I built. The pit. About ten feet deep.Had water problems due the the landslide that made this bench. Slides on both sides made water drainage a big problem. Need a second pump to deal with it. The rental I had. Really liked this hoe. It was a real work horse thanks to the 40hp it has. First cleanup. About 1 yard was run. Not to bad, I would say. (grams) Second cleanup. Had to do small runs due to the water problem I had. Could only work for about 20 minutes than had to stop ans wait for 3 or 4 hours for the water to soak in. The bucket was 1.5 cubic feet. Third cleanup. The deeper I went the better it got. My math works out to 3 grams per yard. Only worked for 3 days. Day and a half making the path and clearing bush. Had to leave early due to the fires. All mining activity was stop everywhere in the Cariboo. Plan on going back in Sept. better prepared with a second pump. Hoping to get to bedrock. My favorite place in the world. My camp, so peaceful and quiet. My fire pit. Not as fancy as James, but functional. Old wash machine tubs are great. Visitor in the night. I set game cams up to see activity around camp. No bears this trip. Purple twin berries. This pod opens with two berries in it. Toxic to humans, which sucks because they are everywhere. Picture of the fruit did not turn out well.
