Hi,
Extremely new to all things rocks. Got interested in exploring further after finding some sharks teeth and plant fossils in Central New Mexico. I am looking to get a tumbler soon but right now I am just having fun collecting in the field. I recently found a complete Septarian Concretion that I would love to get cut but I am so far aware from affording a saw. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and look forward to looking through the information in the forums and posting when feasible.
Cheers...
William

Welcome from Wisconsin . Keep on collecting , you will need a stock pile when you get a tumbler . After your first one , you will need a bigger one .

I grew up in Santa Fe. Welcome to the board. Check to see if there are any local rock clubs. A big advantage to joining a club is access to machinery like saws.

Welcome.
Went to NM for the first time last fall, and Santa Fe was one of the stays. Did alot of sightseeing from there, and it was beautiful. Last leg of the trip meant a drive down the Turquoise Trail to stay with a friend near Sandia Park. Have fun here. Can't wait to see what you find. Regards.

Hi and welcome (from someone brand new to this board as well!).
You live in one of my favorite cities. We have gone on vacation and rented a house on Agua Fria about a half a block away from the Railroad District for the last few years. Such an amazing little town.
I did a quick google search and there seems to be a club in ABQ. Check out the Santa Fe Jewelers supply. It's open to the public and they have all kinds of neat tools and supplies there as well as super knowledgeable people. I'm betting they could tell you if there is a club in Santa Fe. Or Mama's Minerals downtown would probably be able to point you in the right direction.

Welcome aboard. I hail from Virginia.
If your specimen isn't too big, a very affordable Home Depot tile saw will do the trick. That's all I have and it does the trick for lots of rocks. Takes a little practice to do it freehand, but hey, everything has a learning curve. Checkout some of the saw threads or search tile saw.

Hi and welcome. Don't forget second-hand options. I picked my tile saw up for only £5; it came with 6 months warranty and is still going strong 3 years later!

from Tennessee. Keep a close eye on Craigslist. I search 'lapidary' and 'rock tumbler' EVERY day. Made a few nice scores over the years that way. And just remember this hobby is a slippery slope. The more I learn, the more I want to buy, which is why second hand works for me!
