My daughter and I collect stones everywhere we go camping. Now she wants to start tumbling rocks. Just googled myself to this forum and joined. Now to start learning!

Welcome from California!
My love of rocks kind of got started the same way - when my boys were growing up we were heavily into aquariums so every where we would go, camping beach etc. we would bring home a nice rock/pebble for the aquarium. Later my wife and I were beach combing for some green rocks for a bathroom display - which led to buying a tumbler - which led to a full blown life changing addiction/hobby/business lol.

Excellent and welcome! My immediate advice would be to buy a real tumbler, not a toy one with a plastic barrel, to start out with. A Lortone 3A or 33B or a Thumbler's Tumbler isn't that much more expensive than a toy one, will last much longer, and will be MUCH quieter.

Welcome to the forum. Anything you need to know, you can probably learn here. Don't be afraid to ask questions. It's good that you came here before buying any equipment because we can probably help with that. Although you'll get some varying opinions, you'll probably end up with something decent rather than a tumbler you'll have to replace in a short time. I'd recommend The Rock Shed as a good place to shop. I really like my Lortone 33B and my Lortone QT66. I do not like my Thumler's AR2.

Welcome to the forum from Wisconsin . My advice is to start small with quality equipment . Get the basics learned with a small investment . If you decide to keep going with the hobby , ask lots of questions .

welcome from Texas. I started collecting as a child. It is a great healthy addiction. Go with it, you will love it.

from Virginia. I don't tumble rocks, but I love them and collect them. I cab and make jewelry. You've got some of the best tumblers here to pick their brains.
