Sunday my GF and I decided the big lake was the place to spend the day . So we packed a lunch , threw our rock buckets in the truck and away we went . The beach we went to isn't known to produce a lot of agates but we always find some . This time was no exception ,but only a bunch of tiny ones and only one or two that would go an inch . Fine by us , lots of other rocks to pick from anyway . Just being there is the main thing , rocks are a bonus . So , we had a great day with perfect weather and came home with a few goodies and no pics , I conveniently forgot to take out the camera . Yup , Monday weather was great also and I did take out the camera for a few quick pics . First one is a small waterfall on the way up , Looking down at the beach , Part of the Keweenaw on the horizon in the upper right , Couple rocks in the water , Couple more , Some rocks on the beach , concrete building in the water that fell over the bank years ago , And all those rocks to pick from , the bank is red sticky clay that keeps collapsing so I brought a couple gallons of that home for slurry thickener , Thanks for looking , hope everyone is enjoying the weekend .

Nice calm day for easy visability. I'm not sure I'll get to the big lake this summer, so thanks for sharing pictures. I love that lake!

I'd take your lake versus what I've seen on my last trips...Thanks for sharing. ETA: Not my photo, BTW. But, it's pretty representative of my last trips. Dave

Nice calm day for easy visability. I'm not sure I'll get to the big lake this summer, so thanks for sharing pictures. I love that lake! Couldn't have asked for better rockin conditions . By afternoon it was getting a little too rippled for water looking both days . Oh well , lots of rock on the beach . Knowing what that lake does for us , my sympathies go out to you if you can't make it up there this year . Doubt we will make it to the Keweenaw this year either . That hurts .

Just goofing around. I was wondering why the beach was so quiet .

I miss the trips to Lake Superior. My in laws lived in Washburn, near West End Park. Used to walk down there a lot. Many nice finds there and by Port Wing and Corny.

That little gas station in Port Wing has the best smoked salmon ever , the fish market in Corny runs a tight second . I worked up around Bayfield county for a couple years and fell in love with the area and the lake .

Find anything except the slurry mud and smoked salmon ? No salmon this trip , that is about 60 miles to the west . Brought home the usuals , fossils , unikite , jasper , quartz , rhyolite , handful of really small agates and a bunch of other stuff . Little bit of small driftwood for a few projects . Oh , and a bunch of black rocks that I used to think were just plain old basalt , but this is a different rock that takes a super polish . Maybe just highly silicified ? Rocks are still sitting in buckets so no pics .

I use my cell phone to take pictures most of the time because I can't decide on a camera to buy. Even then I forget to take pictures when the rock fever takes over...lol.

I generally have to stay connected because my mom is getting older and I want to be available in case she needs me.

I check in every day , phone or stop in . Went back up to the lake today , weather and water conditions were great like last weekend so I never got the camera out . Went to another waterfall on the way home and got a couple pics though .
