Anyone recognize this material - any clues on the location? This is for a friend - I don't have the stone in my hands. Attachments:

Can't say as I've seen anything like it, but the green has a tremolite look. Very, very pretty.

The gray matrix looks the same as some chrysocolla & azurite on matrix that I found at an abandoned copper mine in AZ. The matrix is fairly fine-grained, so it cuts well. To me something in matrix is often better than something by itself. The green in your photo is different than anything I found. BTW, you should wipe off the drool before phootgraphing it. Lynn

Could it be Variscite?

It does look like variscite I've seen from Lucin, UT but seems darker green than what I've seen.

Epidote is commonly found with quartz and can be dark green.

I've seen some old medfordite (a massive white quartz with emerald-green areas and webbing, sometimes with agate and brown moss) that looks similar - though I don't know what it was that colored the veins green in that (chlorite, chromium or nickel?).

Lucin Variscite for sure. The dark gem my green is hard to come by. Are your colors accurate in the pic?

Looks like green slime mold on cracked alabaster. What? Not what you wanted to hear? Sorry, don't have a clue what it is.
