The purpose of this is to get a sense of what the majority of our members are seeing on their screens for the reasons below among others. We'll leave the survey open ended to run for maybe six months or so.
1. Graphics changes are coming (Winter is coming...lol) whether we like it or not - Proboards V.6 is on the way and it's not even certain if these "themes" we have installed here will be updated to work with the new forum software.
2. RTH personalized graphics and advertising banners etc. When I make new banners and ad graphics I'd like to have some idea who is seeing what and not make things too small or too large - or too obnoxious lol.
To determine your screen resolution: Window's (pre-10 version) users right-click on your desktop and click on "screen resolution." Windows 10 - right-click on your desktop, click "display" - click "advanced display settings" Apple products - google it?

Better check for android tablets and phones Tommy. Desktops and laptops aren't going away brother they r long gone!!! Just check sales for desktops snd laptops over the tears. They r deader than dino poop! You made a great stride with the pic posting attachment. Not to shoot it full of holes but it's only available in desktop mode. Everybody uses android apps now. Let's tailer this forum to be friendly to android. Geez with Siri and the other to semi AI available now from Amazon, Google and even Apple the writing is on the wall.... We need to either remain a semi private club of desktop-laptop geezers or open this thing up to availability to the "masses" . The next big thing is already here....holograms.... it might destroy facebook. It might let us into the arena to compete. We have the skilz, the knowledge, the experience. The Facebook masses don't have this. True lapidary wannabes are going to migrate to specialty forums. Facebook is full of a lot of folks that are to put it bluntly faking it. Imagine a 3D holo of how to orient labrodite??? We got that covered, right???!!# RTH ROCKS!!

According to my stats on all of my sites- desktops still outrank mobile. Just saying. Maybe we need a poll as to what device we are using.

However you need to graph the growth of android. If it was ten percent users and over the past few years it's grown to a much higher percentage the extrapolate...
Also go to the store and look n at what's available. No desktops st Walmsrt!#

From iPhone 6S, I googled your question. Two sites said 375 wide x 667 high, also noted I could change it in Settings.
Will check desktop later.
Oops, learned that my iPhone has twice as many whatevers.

So it was announced in March of 2017 that Andoid use on the Internet exceeded Windows. It was only a few hundreds of a percent but it was there! The next big thing is coming!!!! Windows was King, now it's androids time in the spotlight, somebody will always take down the king of the hill!!! I hope to live to see it... I am a conspiracy theory kinda guy you know. There is more techno in that flying saucer stored in Area 51...Oh yea!#!

According to my stats on all of my sites- desktops still outrank mobile. Just saying. Maybe we need a poll as to what device we are using. Thank you Tela. I have changed the wording. If you don't use a desktop computer then please check either of the two not-applicable boxes. orrum I understand your points and I know you're excited about it but this is more geared towards desktop computers which are still in the majority according to all the data I see from sites like Etsy. It's still 65% desktop computer vs. all other handheld type devices. Point #2 - Android phones don't display our forum header banners so nothing I design is going to matter. I don't mean to sound flip but why bother making something look good on an Android phone when it isn't going to show up anyway? I can't speak for tablets, I don't have one and don't have any way to test it. For those devices you can add a width percentage into the styling so it scales itself to the device.

I use a PC and a laptop, 1600+ on PC and 1360x768 on laptop, I tend to use the laptop more. I have used my phone but pretty seldom and I expect it to stay that way. I was perfectly happy with the mobile interaction but only use my mobile when I'm away. orrum Bill, if you're referring to the rockshow photo hosting I'm going to have to patch up your holes, I had zero problems posting photos from my phone when participating in the beta. I don't use Tapatalk or whatever it is, just use chrome for android. As far as the expanded proboards photos goes AFAIAC that photo space should be reserved for newbies who haven't read the photo hosting tutorial yet. I am also going to have to disagree regarding FB, some of our best talent on this site is also on FB, many have gone there and seldom participate here. My personal mentors who are on the internet are all on FB, only a couple have used this site and the people I know personally who have are here to learn. The FB group I interact with has 18k members, including many teachers, dealers and authors who participate regularly. They have set up a brick and mortar shop in the Seattle area with a publicly subsidized educational lapidary shop. We can't compete with social media, better to continue doing what we do the way we do it.

So it was announced in March of 2017 that Andoid use on the Internet exceeded Windows. You must be using that new math Everyone in the WORLD from the age 10 on up (exaggerating) has a cell phone and the vast majority of those have internet access. It makes perfect sense that statistically there are more android devices active than there are Windows devices. Here on our forum and other forums I would be VERY surprised if the numbers aren't closer to primarily accessed via: 85% PC/mac/laptop, 10% tablet, 5% phone. Edited to add: BTW orrum - where is your check mark on option #5 of the poll? heehee You can see polls on your phone yes?

Considering a lot of folks are "connected" via smart phone 24/7 and the phone is in their pocket more like 20 or more of those hours, but still technically connected, Bills new math is probably correct, but irrelevant to the discussion. Those numbers are generated and publicized to get us to use our phones more and allow better tracking of our marketable activities. I am noticing that every time my apps update the settings change and suddenly I am again getting notifications I don't want.

Use a big tablet, and several desk tops, depending where I'm at on the property. Tablet slower like a mobile device. Desk tops all lightening fast. No phone. I want to see the picture and have it load quickly more than a high pixel size. If I want to see it more closely, I like the larger sized stuff. Depends on what I am looking at.

I only have a 17" laptop. I despise having to struggle to see images! LOL! I do NOT have a cell phone and don't want one. orrum- my site and my 2 etsy sites report what visitors are using. I know from experience, lots of experience that mobile images simply do not represent product well.

Desk tops are becoming less sold because of the price and the portability but I love the comfort and typing on a regular sized keyboard Also like the clarity and size of a big desktop. The site should be very friendly to mobile devices . The storage of downloaded material is also much greater and handier. Desk tops will always be sold but the smaller devices are handier. Holograms are really cool.. Plus 1 RTH rocks !!

Ok everybody I didna clearly state my rant
Android is in period gor now. Your pc, laptop, rsblet, cell, heart monitor, NASA etc will be dropping the current Windows systems and moving to app style operation. Look at the current windows, it's starting to work off a app look and manner. That's why everyone dislikes it. Three types of people...
1. Just ain't never gonna get digital tech. 2. Got the old doss, and moved to Windows no problemo and moved right on to Android apps also no problemo. 3. Totally similiar to 1 above in don't get apps and android. Got windows great, can't get their brain around android and apps. 4. Apps made for ease of computing with no background. That's why the greatest apps are written by a 10 yr old! App tech will already wireless put your pic on the wide screen tv. It will also wireled use a gull size keyboard. Shoot you can type into the keyboard and have it appear in a holo now. There are even holo keyboards. Carry a black.box in your pocket and ask it to call up a holo of your shipping orders??? Yep it's there now just too full of bugs to be commercially viable. A 10 yr old will get it straight for us. Oops I am not supposed to use my brain digitally
Tommy as far as using the mobile apps to get advertising money please go to Pure Living For Life. It's a blog. Couple of very good friends thst are going off gtid, they support themselves digitally. They also have a section that very concisely tells you how to set up to make money. My old woedpress blog made me money and you can't even see ads etc!
OK that's enough I am going back to a simple ole one legged cowboy.

On my Mac Safari Sierra, I have a 1920 x 1200.
What do you like best? I suspect the higher the number, the clearer the picture. I like clear pictures!

1360x768 on laptop & recently Android tablet too
Everything appears on my 10" Android tablet just as it does on my laptop - everything, down to the last detail.

I use a 24-inch desktop monitor with 1920 x 1080 resolution. Love it.
Have an Apple smartphone. The only way I can read it is with a 10X jeweler's loupe. Hate it!

My laptop & Android tablet are both 1920 x 1080. My iPhone 7 is 750 x 1334. When I upload photos to my webhost for inclusion in a thread here on RTH, I usually make them 600, 800 or 1000 pixels wide. If my post has pix, I use my laptop to edit & upload them. It's much easier than doing it on the iPhone or tablet, especially editing. I haven't tried uploading to my webhost on iPhone or Android tablet. Lynn
