I have been trading material with an acquaintance in Europe; mostly average'ish material but hard to find (at least for me) here in the States. This first is Solnhofen Limestone from Bavaria. It polishes like porcelain. Not really lapidary material but it does polish nice and has a nice latte color. Juchem Agate - this material comes from a small family owned quarry in Germany. The agate isn't typically colorful but it does polish with an interesting relief effect. Freisen Agate - another German agate; these come from an area between Frankfurt and Luxemburg that has been mined for agates since the 1400's. These were cabbed from some rather uninspiring half nodules... Cab 1 Cab 2 Cab 3 Cab 4 Cab 5 This is a 2lb. Freisen Agate that I will be slabbing soon. It is completely dissimilar to the others I have from the same area. It should make some interesting cabs. I haven't seen an agate with this type of pattern. Lepidolite - neat piece with nice crystals. Mexican Fire Agate - I stopped grinding this one, even though there is fire a little deeper in. I like the shape and pattern and was concerned I would have lost it if I went deeper. Graveyard Point Plume Agate - not really a good photo. Both the black and white plumes in this are really well defined. Kentucky Agate - this is my first Kentucky agate cab. I like the soft yellows and reds. I found a large slab of it and am looking forward to cutting more cabs from it. Mahogany Obsidian Biggs Jasper - this cab is from a trim scrap piece I cut from a slab I am working. After I cut it off, I saw there was a nice cab in it. Thanks for looking Roger

Very cool! Great looking cabs. That limestone is a little plain by itself, and you worked it beautifully, but I'll bet someone who does intarsia would find a place for some!

Very cool! You don't see stuff like that too often. I'm partial to those natural edges. Like em a lot!
