Or should it be only when home with it?

If you're referring to a vibe lap I would say no. They dry out pretty quickly in my experience.

x2 on Rockoonz comment. I usually have to add a tablespoon or so of water every hour, sometimes more, depending upon the weather.

The only machinery I walk away from is my tumblers.....The others are two expensive to leave at any given moments.. Only takes a second and "BOOM",its toasted... So no!

Back when I still new everything I had a Lortone vibe lap. I new grit broke down to very fine in the tumbler. One night I loaded up the vibe lap and let it run all night knowing the rocks would be ready for polish by morning. Well, they not only dried out and stuck themselves to the pan center, they all gravitated to the center and wore a concave in the pan ruining it.
