I had a really busy weekend cabbing, it was great. I'm mostly happy with the cabs.
This is coprolite I got in Quartzsite last January. I was most disappointed in this piece. It has different hardnesses and I couldn't get a completely smooth surface and couldn't get a decent shine. This one surprised me. I don't know what it is. It took a nice shine while going through all the wheels but when I used the tin oxide polish the shine got stripped away. So I put it on the last couple wheels to shine it up again. This is supposed to be Ocean Jasper. It's from the same slab as a cab I made a few weeks ago. It's a little lopsided but I like it. I don't know what this is but it sure is pretty. It has a couple of small pits but that's ok. This is Coprolite I got from <'))))>< Fish . I love this stuff. Takes an awesome shine. I'll be making a lot more of these. This is Amethyst Sage I got from catmandewe last January in Quartzsite. It took an awesome shine and would have looked better if I didn't cab the wrong side of the preform. Love the stuff. Brazilian agate from broseph82 It took a great shine. I love Montana agate. It's so easy to shape and shine. I really like how this one turned out. Whole group to show size. That's all for now. Thanks for looking Andrea

I hear you on that first coprolite piece, but it is still attractive. The second cab is "Bamboo Stone" (or "Bamboo Jasper" IIRC, it supposedly comes out of China, though I haven't seen rough attributed to a specific area). I seem to recall having some of the other IDK, but cannot recall what it was (colors remind me of some morrisonite, so perhaps that area).

First off, wow what a shine you got on those! Great work! Was interested to hear that bamboo jasper came out of China. I found some stuff that was identical to that in a river in Wyoming on my way to Yellowstone. Don't remember it taking that fantastic shine you got on your example so the American stuff must have been softer.....Mel

On the count of 3 everyone say cabbielishous. 1, 2, 3, CABBIELISHOUS!them sure are are nice, I was gonna say that 2nd one was petrified rice soup from China, but I guess it can be bamboo jasper. If didn't say it already them sure are nice.don't beat your self up over the first one it's flaws are the nature of the stone. Not your own.

Nice set, I especially like the Brazilian. You could do a double dome on the amy sage, hint, hint.
Peace, Rich

Very nice and a great start! I like that Chinese, too. But they are all nice with great polishes. I wouldn't worry abt the first one. Sometimes you get one that just doesn't want to cooperate.

Gorgeous cabs! Love that Montana agate also. The Ocean Jasper is cool, I've got some chunks of that I need to slab up.
