I've collected rocks all of my life, but honestly I have a ton to learn. I asked for a vibratory tumbler for Christmas a few years back and I'm finally starting to use it because my first attempts failed due to lack of documentation. I just signed up for an 8 hour class for beginners at our local senior center, and hope to become an active member of their lapidary club if their meeting times coordinate with my work schedule. Meanwhile I thought I'd check out this website based on a recommendation from another website.

Welcome (also from Michigan). What model vibrating tumbler do you have? do you have a rotary tumbler too or just vibratory?

Another welcome directly from Michigan. What part of the state are you from? If you have any specific questions about tumbling, let us know.

Has it been 3 years? Sorry I didn’t reply. Sometimes work seems to take over my life and hobbies get dropped. If any of you who replied are still here I’m from Rochester Hills, MI. I finally took the lapidary training class in November 2019 and loved it. Due to my teaching schedule I knew I could join the lapidary club until April, but alas that’s on hold....
So today I pulled out my vibratory tumbler and started a new batch Using my raytech vibrator. My last batch would never get that final shine so I’m finally paying attention to rock hardness. Hopefully this batch will be better.
