Hi all Here are a few of my latest cabs. They are the beginning of a group of over 100 that I have been cutting and shaping. Time to start finishing a few. I can only work in the garage in the mornings, as it's too hot after noon, soI'll post pics as I get them done. The first is a very large but unique cab that I ground down from a thin seam of chrysocholla plume agate from Steve Ivie's location in the South Cady Mountains. He was kind enough to show us the spot when we met up for a day of rockhounding. The stone dictated the shape. I just removed everything that didn't have blue in it. My wife says it is a family of polar bears on a snow covered wooded slope. I'm posting two different pics of it. The background seems to show the details better, but it's more blue in the hand. The second is also from the South Cadys, but a different area. It is also a thin piece of seam agate ground down. The white tubes are only on the surface and the streaks of chrysocholla and malachite are pretty shallow too. I cut the stone down to this shape to save the good stuff. The rest was nothing.... This next one is from a small slab I picked up at the Stoddard Wells show. Its very translucent and chatoyant. You can see some of that in the photo. I liked the way it was broken and reformed. Variegated Tiger Eye... This last one (for now) is Marfa plume from the Singleton Ranch. I collected this last year with Teri Smith. I include the second picture because the picture in my hand kind of took the reds and pinks out of the cab. The shape is freeform from the actual shape of nodule, thus the warped oval. Hopefully, I'll get some more posted today or tomorrow. I'm trying to get the interior of the house painted before new carpet next Saturday... Hope you enjoy! Craig

OMG! Those are incredible! That first one, though- I think I actually lost that a while back while I was up there. If you would kindly return it to me, I'd appreciate it.

Wowsa, great 3D effect on the first and last!
Hey Craig, step outside and take a gander to the south and east, if you haven't already. Some awesome, towering thunderheads! Love the clouds, love the thought of a possibility of thundershowers, but Zonies can keep that humidity that comes with the monsoon flow. Jean

All 4 of those are outstanding! couldn't pick a favorite. Might lean towards the Singleton Ranch Plume but that might expose me as being a homer!!

I think that one asked me to pick it up. Actually, there have only been a few pieces ever found there. Steve was showing us his secret location and trying to describe the material. I reached down while he was talking and picked it up and said "Like This?' It was the only piece of chrysocholla plume we found all day. Isn't that just like a rock....no loyalty at all!!

I even like the rain, too! But that humidity is a pain. Can't wait for things to cool off....the rocks are calling to me. Craig
