Ms Mel, when I post my "What I Did This Summer" thread, you will understand my absence. Hope to be back more by maybe September. Bought a house! No, unfortunately, no new house. More later. Don't need to hijack Mr. Steve's thread.

Welcome from Tennessee! Took my first class at WH earlier this year (silver 1). Was amazed by the experience. Mel raved about her experience in your class, she stopped by on her way back to Mississippi. Her cabs were amazing! You've gotta share some of your work with us. Pretty please!

You've gotta share some of your work with us. Pretty please! Here's a link to my cabochons collection (all cut by me). Some are one-of-a-kind material (I only had one piece of it), some I thought were too pretty to sell, some were made into jewelry by my wife or myself, and some are flawed in one way or another, so didn't want to sell. Nothing for sale on this page: bitterbrookcabochons.com/gallery.htm?dir=collectionThere are a lot more that I haven't photographed. I teach four weeks a year at William Holland by the way. I come back for two classes on September 3. Next year I teach the first two weeks of the school year (April sometime) and two weeks in October.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing. I second Mel's desire to try intarsia. My birthday is in April, so I might give myself a week at WH in your class. Perfect present! I live just outside of Chattanooga and see you are just down the road in Birmingham. Do you collect locally? I've been wanting to join the B-ham Paleontology Society, but its a long drive just to attend the first meeting. I see some beautiful, and extremely elusive, Tennessee Paint Rock in your collection. I've only found one source so far, but it's a closed site now. I have a small pile that still needs cut, but the vast majority have been opalized all the way through. Very disappointing.

Don't believe half of what Mel told you about me... I don't collect at all any more. I buy all my material at three venues: G&LW in Franklin, our own club show, and the shows in Quartzsite. Several of the rock club members are in the Paleontology Society; I can put you in contact with one.

bitterbrook I would love it if you could put me in contact with a member. I believe that is the only way I can join without going to a meeting. You either have to go to a meeting or a field trip, or be sponsored by a member. That's what my friend said (he's the president). Sorry.
