I spent some time this weekend preforming a 4" sphere. In between saw cuts I cut a couple cabs. Gneiss with hornblende and garnets. Petrified "Colla" wood These last two are a pair of Laguna agate cabs I cut from two slabs out of the middle of a nodule. Hope everyone has a great week!

Those lagunas are awesome! So, you are doing spheres now, too??? I have a good friend who has the machines and he has been teaching me about sphere making for the last few years. I made my first sphere ~2 years ago. I think I have cut maybe 20 or so. I have 5-6 in my collection and the others I sold. I cut more cabs than anything else. Spheres are labor and time intensive if you don't have a core drill and a high speed sphere machine. Plus the material costs can get pretty high trying to find quality rough in pieces large enough to cut 2"-6" spheres from...and there is a lot more waste cutting spheres...
