Here's a few more of the Tumbles from last night; Two Round Mt Chalcedony shapes; DSC_0064 by Findrocks, on Flickr Singleton Ranch Black Plume; DSC_0063 by Findrocks, on Flickr Needle Peak Agates; DSC_0060 by Findrocks, on Flickr Needle Peak Agate; DSC_0059 by Findrocks, on Flickr Big Bend Petrified Wood; DSC_0058 by Findrocks, on Flickr Needle Peak Agate Heart, my best Heart shape to date, getting the hang of cutting and grinding them and a bit of luck; DSC_0057 by Findrocks, on Flickr Singleton Ranch Plume/Bouquet. I like the blue, it's is a bit washed out in the picture for some reason. DSC_0054 by Findrocks, on Flickr Still not happy with my picture taking, it might not be so bad except there are several folks out here who are taking really nice pictures. One step at a time, figure out how to get my hand out of the picture, that and probably setup a tripod. Henry

Another bunch of winners, Henry. I've got some of those materials here, you've inspired me to get to work on them.
That pet wood is smooth as a butterscotch candy!

Like the Big Bend agates. That heart is just perfect Hank. Washed away down there? Don't need to go hunting a river for rock, need to hunt for the rivers under all that water. OMG the hunting is going to be great on the interstates before they get all the mud and debris scraped off. Should have a huge amount of freshly exposed material down your way.

I need to start slabbing more of the Texas Wood and making more shapes as they take a very good polish. For me I generally like to slab Wood and the Palm with the grain for tumbling, and across the grain for polishing big slabs and end pieces. I suppose there is no wrong way.

I love that big bend wood. I usually have trouble with soft spots or fractures in wood. That stuff looks flawless.

Dang Hank, those are fantastic!!!! Your Needle Peaks are amazing! I was collecting with you.....how come I don't have anything that looks that good?
I love that heart! Did you polish it on the wheel or in the vibe?
You did some serious work to get that Round Mountain chalcedony to look that good! I've got a bunch of it that's been tumbling for months and is finally getting smooth.
You did a great job on those Singletons! I hope mine come out that well! Lots of scrubbing and rinsing!
Glad you survived the storm!

The Needle Peak material is from the 80's and the 90"s that I collected and some from an old friend. The heart was polished in the Vib-tumbler. I was luck with consistent hardness through the shapeand it did not deform. I did manage to hike up to a higher area at Round Mt and found smoother pieces than around the parking spot. I wanted to go up higher but ran out of time. Even the smoother pieces took 3 to 4 weeks in Coarse. The Singletons are fun as sometimes you just don't see the Bouquet/Plume. That and I am gluing most pieces to wood and then grinding away a bit of surface before tumbling.
