Just got a slab of this. Supposed to be a new find. Looks much better in person. Very solid. No cracks, old healed fractures. Seems to be a hard jasper- MAYBE a rhyolite. Haven't cut it, yet.

Tight banding like a jaspelite too. A rhyolite should scratch huh? Never seen a rhyolite with that tight a pattern but I don't get out much. Maybe will run a cross some at the Denver Show. You get all the new and the bestest stuff..

Ah so it was YOU who snatched that! We have the same taste! He always lists BIN AND an auction price. I waited for him to list another and grabbed it for cheap. The auction one went too high for me! He listed another- not as nice, though IMHO. I don't know if it is still up, though.

I don't know if that is spelled right or if it goes by another name, but it looks similar to this with a very tight line pattern.

Also called swirly rhyloite. There are some pinky tones in this that didn't get picked up.

Yep pink-rose would sway me for sure. Will look for some in Denver and see if I can find out who is mining it. Seems to take a fair polish. Any pitting?

Yep looks like green banded ryolite from Quinn Pass on Plomosa Road in Quartzsite. Whole dang mountain of it!

drocknut What you think of this rock lady D? It does look like the green banded rhyolite found near Quartzsite, but the stuff I've seen has lighter green banding and the bands have been wider. There is some rhyolite found in that same area that might be closer to it in looks but I doubt people have picked it up to cab it or sell it. Very cool looking cab whatever material it is.
