I have a 50k nova wheel, that I can't stand. It don't work worth a crap. Not sure what the deal is, but I am going to get an outside lap for my Gene. Should I get the felt or canvas to go with 50k diamond paste? Or, does it matter? Should I use an extender?

Tela, my outside Genie lap is leather. We put 100,000 in the center, and 50,000 on the outside.
Don't know about extender.

I canvas which what came with my genie. When I'm done using the right wheels, I remove the hood and screw in the pad. I worked the paste into the pad using a larger polished cab.

I also use leather. I have tried felt with diamond paste but prefer leather. I haven't tried canvas.

I have a kingsley north machine that came with a canvas end mount pad and use 50000 diamond w good results. I use olive oil as an extender fluid as its cheap and readily available , you really need to use the extender fluid when applying the diamond paste to thin it out so it applies evenly.

I use canvas on mine and it works great... Use one for the 14,000 and a different one for 50,000 and I always use extender... Good luck... Deb

On outside lap (leather) do you have to have an extender when you use the diamond paste? Olive Oil is a bit to aromatic for me. Could you use canola?
Off topic, though, what machine RPM's do the members use when using the Oxides like Cerium, Alum. Tin, etc? My old mentor says that 700 RPM's or less gives the best results. Anyone go higher or lower, and any reco's greatfully received.
