I copied this from another forum's archive in fact Bobby1 initiated the same question as you have.
"If they are like my Poly arbor, they are exactly the same as Lortone units. They are held in place by a setscrew on a collar, the bearings are mounted in rubber and are very long lasting. I just replaced mine after 40 years. The bearings and rubber mounts are available from Lortone at a higher price take Tony Funks advice and order from them. I should have added at start this is for 3/4 inch shaft unit."

Be awful hard to beat johnjsgems on anything lap equipment related. He might be getting ready for the big Denver show this upcoming weekend.

these bearings are not mounted in rubber and are totally different from the bearings I have replaced in different machines from Lortone and Lortone shafts are either 1/2 or 5/16th and these Polys are 3/4 shafts

Ok maybe this will work on evilbay they sell some NOS JAF 87504 bearings. Maybe they are .75 since they are older. but they don't list the specs.

I have sent a message to FAFNIR to see if they make a bearing that size anymore . It appears that a lot of the older bearing numbers have been changed to metric dimensions for some reason . I did find some .750 ID bearings with a 1.625 OD and I am going to see if I can find some steel shim stock that is .110 and I may try that . Thanks for the Applied site Larry but at that price 2 bearings are more than a poly arbor sells for here . I could probably get a new shaft turned cheaper. Wayne

The idea of putting the Applied site up is that it makes a good search/reference site for what is available, not necessarily the only or best place to buy. Have a look around at some other bearing sites.

Does anyone know why the bearing companys switched from American Standard to metric and didn't use different bearing numbers ?? I have access to a lathe with a 48 inch bed so turning isn't a major issue to take a piece of 1 inch shaft and turn it down and probably a person could buy a shaft from Lortone in 5/8ths dia . that is close enough in length to make it work .
