The last 3 days of cabbing have been awesome. I got my new spin on felt pad today and charged it up with 50k diamond. Wow! I never knew some of these could shine the way they do now. That 50k nova wheel is trash. I finally managed a PERFECT fluorite- 220 nova, 1200, 3000, 14k, 50k. I did a supreme AZ shattuckite, which is shiny beyond measure and the rhodonite is amazing. Sadly, seraphinite really does NOT like 50k. It undercut like crazy. Had to go back to 3000. Fun, fun! copper complex Had to go back and fix the tip on this. It is off a little. a little scrap of dino bone, thin as a wafer. I like it, though. One of my favs- this is so rich in person- dumortierite cabochon what's left of a flowering tube onyx. Boy, this stuff is fractured! My achievement for the day. Too bad you can't really tell it has a glassy polish. From Tommy- Needles blue agate with gem silica and brecciated jasper. An amazing rhodonite! Yes, it IS that color. This is the Australian stuff. It was really hard. The 50k was icing on the cake. This is a big cab. This was called Wyoming Sagebrush jasper, but I think it is dolomite. Didn't polish well, but it looks awesome. Super chatoyant! Light tent shattuckite- What I thought was cuprite turned out to be metal. I think it is copper, but it looks more like bronze of all things. The metal webs are on the outside and fade out into the fabulous color and flowers. shattuckite: fresh off the wheel under daylight bulb. Before the 50k. No photoshop. The color is extreme. shattuckite2: outside shattuckite3: close up detail of the center where there is some flowering. shattuckite4: some black tourmaline in quartz Thanks for looking!

Back to school is treating you well. I cannot pick a favorite from this group. What color wrap will you do with the shattuckite?

I can only show my respect for the selection of materials and the work done finishing them.

Back to school is treating you well. I cannot pick a favorite from this group. What color wrap will you do with the shattuckite? I have had hardly any interruptions. It's amazing! I started a really sweet yellow dino bone today, too, but it's not finished. I may break my rule and cab on Saturday. I haven't actually thought about wrapping it, yet. It came from a big slab, so I'll pick the cab I like best. I will probably use silver with a patina.

What color wrap will you do with the shattuckite? Gold filled. Sorry, it ain't mine and I have zero authority to say this. But my mind's eye says gold would be sweet!

My achievement for the day. Too bad you can't really tell it has a glassy polish.   Thanks for looking! A) you are welcome. But really, the gratitude is to you for the new knowledge and the plethora of eye candy you shared. Woot!! B) I believe this last pic of the flourite does indeed show that this piece has the look and clarity of glass. Something only possible if you have outstanding quality material and an outstanding polish. I think, by light years, that is the finest fluorite cab I have seen anywhere. No disrespect to jeannie. She agrees. That piece is world class. Wow!

The trick was to skip the first 2 wheels and the fourth. I don't use a 280 wheel. I use a 220 nova. I will NEVER go back to the 280. The 220 works so much better.

What a tour de force! I've never seen such spectacular flourite! They were all beautiful. You did a masterful job not undercutting the dino bone.

That felt pad and the 50k really put the shine on these cabs! Where did you get the felt pad, or who made it, if you don't mind me asking?

Beautiful set, Tela! So many sweet cabs, hard to mention a favorite. That fluorite is crazy good though.

That felt pad and the 50k really put the shine on these cabs! Where did you get the felt pad, or who made it, if you don't mind me asking? It was made by diamond pacific and I picked it up on ebay. I'm really liking it. I squirted it with some mineral oil and laid down the paste. Then I smeared the lines. Ready to go. I had been using a 50k spin on nova wheel. It NEVER worked right. In fact, it scratched more than polished. I gave up on it.
