Tela all are very very beautiful! The fluorite is my favorite. It's jaw dropping!!!! Maybe because you don't see it much. My 50k nova wheel hasn't ever worked right either, So frustrating! I'm going to try your method. I have the flat felt lap. Why did you choose to put mineral oil on before the polish and did you use same (what kind) polish for all?

I'm going to try your method. I have the flat felt lap. Why did you choose to put mineral oil on before the polish and did you use same (what kind) polish for all? I have a felt pad on my flat lap, too. I've used it a couple times to good effect, which is why I ended up deciding on the felt wheel rather than canvas. It is much too inconvenient for me to use all the time. I sprayed some mineral oil on the wheel to help disperse the lines of paste. I don't know what brand I have. It is 50k. It comes in hypodermic looking tubes. Just lay some lines down on it - like a pie. Smear them in with your finger and use it. I don't use the geysers on the wheel, but I do dip the stone in water. So far none have gotten too hot. As evidenced by the non shattered fluorite. I chose mineral oil over olive oil because I wanted an oil that wouldn't go rancid or sticky. The paste application will last a very long time before I need another. The nova spin on wheel has been extremely unuseful. It has NEVER worked like the paste does. The rubber stuff would scratch the stones (I'm guessing). I used a dressing stick on it as a last resort. I knocked down the height of the stipple and scrubbed it real good with a nylon brush, took it outside, hosed it down with a high pressure hose. I figured at that point, had it been contaminated, it would have been fixed. I don't believe that it was contaminated, though. It was not improved. Now I'm stuck with a completely useless, virtually unused, expensive nova wheel. Oh well, live and learn.

I'd have to say that shattukite is off the hook fabulous. Maybe I'm just partial to blue but that had me drooling and dreaming of silver wire wrapped deep blue cabs. If only I had a deep blue shattukite cab to wrap....hmmmmm? LOL

Freaking insanely gorgeous Tela! I'd say your research paid off in spades on that Fluorite! Just gorgeous. I've never seen flowers like that in Shattuckite before too - primo stuff! You must have been happy to find THAT slab!
