I've been working on preforms the past week or so. These are the ones I have trimmed up of the 40-45 I've drawn up and cut out. Andrea

Great layouts. Doing such a fine job on trimming will saw your wheel life, too. I get sloppy sometimes, but then I just end of free forming with what I have outside the lines.
How do you like the whole process of laying out your cuts? I love it. It sometimes takes me forever and I change my mind often. I use a pencil, so I can erase. I used to use a marker, but I went through too many. Fine sharpies don't like rock. I take the best sweet spot out of a slab and put the rest away for later. I used to mark out a whole slab and cut the whole thing. But, I was wasting blade life because I knew I wouldn't get to half of them. Now I am more choosy. I really enjoy marking out the slabs. It is relaxing to me, too. It feels like an artistic process. I get in the zone.

I like trying different stencils and envision how the cabs will look when finished. I just got a whole bunch of new stencils and I can't wait to use them. I usually try to mark out the whole slab but I know what you mean about probably not getting to half of them. I can always throw the ones I don't do in the tumbler. Andrea
