Couple more dandy batches . Doesn't look like a bunch of difference in the polish between the two machines . Both awesome .

I really like that rock in d solo picture from the mini sonic batch. Looks like some Michigan unakite in the Lot-O batch. Super nice batches of rocks.

I got some unakite in my mix from ChicagoDave that look like a different variety. I ran both batches the exact same amount of time using the exact same amount of grit and borax. I think they both came out comparable. I should have ran a big piece of obsidian in the mini sonic too to see how it would have done in the mixed batch. Surprised how well that obsidian did in the loto with all the agates and jaspers.

Chuck.. You're so bad. Shaming all the rest of us with one set of perfect tumbles after another. grin What would be your choice for an aggressive vibe? Already have twin lotto but like to have bigger opening for bigger rock. Almost ready to start looking for a Viking industrial or similar. Do you know anything about the Thumbler vibes as far as ease to open , durability etc.?

The mini-sonic has a larger opening than the loto. Maybe like 3.5" x 4". I have stayed away from larger units because I like the control of smaller batches but I understand the need for doing larger rocks. When ever I go bigger on my operation the quality goes down. In my hay-day I was rolling 80-100 pounds in stage one but quality control between stage one and stage two suffered. Now I have found the perfect system that allows me to consistently keep the lot-o fed year round. I am happy with 3 pounds of finished rocks each and every week. Chuck

Beautiful batch. Glad to see you're getting good use out of that mixed box. That unakite came from the Rock Shed and I really enjoyed tumbling it! Their website says the material is from Brazil.

Thanks Dave. Your stuff was good. It did not go into storage it all went directly into the tumblers as soon as I got it. Seems unakite can be from many places. We have it here in Michigan and I have cabbed some from Virginia and Russia too. Chuck

Good stuff, Chuck. I am always amazed at the wide variety of material a person can throw into a Lot-O and have it come out with a wet shine. That obsidian looks great!

I think the obsidian suffered a little bit but in my 100% obsidian loads I would have been using way more ceramic and way more time in each stage. Still impressive considering the load they were in. Should have turned around and dumped that same load into the mini sonic to see if it would so as well on that obsidian with all the same steps. Chuck

Beautiful set. Looks like both machines gave you an excellent shine. Is this an obsidian? I've not seen this patterning before (but I still consider myself a newbe).
