Duke, You done spent your whole retirement on that well equipped shop. But gotta tell you. Most of the wimmen on here got better ones. Not big hydraulic presses but well laid out, well equipped ones made for efficient rock work.

Duke will learn very quickly that Cliff is just funnin' with him. No one is safe from his high jinks!
Gotta ask Mr. Duke, why do you want to switch hobbies? That's a whole bunch of neat toys you have there.

Yeah Cliff after yesterdays purchases I do feel a lil weak. Okay here is what the shop will look like once the tractors are removed I kinda have a blank canvas to work with. Yeah I will need to surface mount some outlets that will determine by my equipment placement. You can see the doorway in the second picture down that leads into the shop / garage area the main Garage is 24 X 50 1200 sq ft this shop is 11 X 25 for a total size of 275 sq ft I just went out and measured I guessed before so the whole fam damily is 1475 sq ft. ~Duke

I haven't seen the floor on any of my work areas in years. If I clean a spot out its magic and full of things the next day. Had a spot cleaned out and 50 pails of rock showed. Sold some of that and 60 lbs of bear fat to render. Rendered that and several buckets of antlers showed. Moved that and I had to build two insulated covers for my Russian bee hives. Now my studio its even worse.

How far in this rock thing you thinking of going?
You just want to tumble some rocks or do you have other plans?

Wow He's a ventriloquist too. Heck of a space. Extravagant by most means. You'll need a water outlet. Drains that will drain outside. Cant drain all that rock mud into the house plumbing cause rock mud sets up like concrete. Need a separate drain.. Warm water is a blessing too. Captnbob made a good question. You thinking slabbing rock to cab out and then polish for jewelry? Is the wife interested in doing jewelry? You going to face and collect specimens like Bob and I ? Plan now or you'll use that big space quickly. This is an addictive hobby. If you're thinking of selling to make money.. Probably wont happen. Lots of people do it and I don't know of anyone that makes money more than a poor wage. Good choice for equipment. The thumbler model b is a good unit. Lortone is the other good one. I'm like toiv0 Haven't seen a floor, kitchen counter or the front part of a big house's floor for very long for a couple years. Am blessed to be single. Lot less splaining to do. grin.

My Garage is heated has never seen a frozen temps. I don't have running water in there so a couple 55 gal barrels of water washing the rocks that are tumbled in buckets will have to do. I have a freeze faucet not far away so I can get water if needed. I Plan to be operating the following. 2) Lorotone 33B 2) Thumler Model B's 2) Twin Lot -O- Tumblers. 1) 6" CABBING Machine 1) Large Slab Machine 2) Trim Saws We Presently Etch Glass and Ceramics and Now Would like to etch large stones with the face cut off of them and after the stone is polished. Will also Etch smaller stones. I Set up a Full Graphics Shop and do all the computer graphics. For example in the last picture is a design I think would look good on a polished rock face. Some of the designs could also be on Jewelry. So we are planning on doing something a little different.
Bingo! I see something interesting for you and the forum. Etched coffee mugs with personalized messages and RTH logos. Be great Christmas presents. You're just full of surprises Duke. Yeah if those plastic barrels of water sit in a heated shop a couple days at least they will be room temp. Probably run the trim saws and their water mist and wetness away from the expensive equipment huh?

Ok, Duke, here is my shop. It's in my basement. My ten inch slab saw is in the garage, so it's not shown here. My tumblers set on the floor. Here's where I was standing while taking the previous picture. These are buckets of mostly Petoskey stones and pudding stones. The saw is a ten inch Frantom saw that I wheel out and use a trim saw. I have never gotten the gravity feed to work very well. I need to organize this area or just put the rocks outside. Here is my old flat lap, a Dremel in a drill press, and my sink. I used to brew beer on the stove, but now it's just a second stove that we use about twice a year. View of same table from the other side. There are some finished tumbles in the cabinet in the foreground and a bucket of tumbling water that is always there and seems to always be full. Larger drill press and cab machine. I build the cabinets just for this hobby. I would like to have more. I need to find a better spot for my stone bowls and large polished rocks. Rock storage under the counter. Recycling tubs on the far left.

Rob, your shop is WAY too clean and organized! That's because you didn't see it an hour before this picture was taken. I imagine your shop is pretty tidy too.
