_ These are only wet, not tumbled or polished, and the pictures are not enhanced. I found them on the beach around the border of Canada and Washington. I have tried scratch tests but I'm not getting results that look like anything (at least to me, I guess). I think they are both in my tumbler currently, but I can definitely pull them if better or other pics are needed! Thank you!!

It has a nephrite look to it. A lower class of jade. One of the cabbers might know it better. rockjunquie what do you think on this one?

Thank you! I sure hope so! I have quite a few green rocks of all shades and compositions. There is a deep purple/blue one that has me curious as well. I'm having a hard time finding images of rough stones, and the ones I do find are kind of along the lines of "ehhh.. mayyyybe it could be that?" I imagine once they're all polished up, they'll be easier to figure out what they are.

Not sure what they are, but they are GORGEOUS!!!! I would lean to nephrite as well esp. given where you found them. But, if so, they are especially nice. We LOVE to help ID stones. Get pictures and post them. There is also a list of steps to go though to try to figure out what you have, too. There's 2 pinned in the rock ID section- in case you haven't already seen them. Welcome!

Awesome! I will try to get my pictures down to the 1mb size and post them! I did see the pinned posts, but have not had time to look very closely, since I'm at work. But I will for sure afterwards!
I appreciate it so much!!

Serpentine is my guess, but with only a pic there is zero way to know. Are you capable of a specific gravity test?

Broke out the good knives and did a scratch test. Extremely light scratch on the yellowy green stone (almost can't see it), no scratch on the darker green but a powdery steel line from the knife that wiped off. If I have the stuff to do a gravity test, I definitely can! Sorry this response took so long!

Gravity will help, but without a geolab, you won't get better than that. rockpickerforever Dearest Jean, would you be so kind as to find wampidytoo's thread on specific gravity, back when he was Wampidy? You have great Fu and on my phone it doesn't seem doable.please and thank you.

HAs she tried to scratch it yet. That jade is a bit harder and the rocks around there are loaded up with the serpentine too. She also had some purple in some. Wish we could see it dry. Edit Just saw it.

Jean the threadpickerforever. The thread you found was the first one but there is a better one that is named something like "My SG test grew up or is all grown up". I have the photos for the second one which is much better and will test larger rocks. About the only thing I can find any more is my mouth for both eating and getting me in the dog house. Jim

I have found a lot of stones in Northern Wyoming that look like the lower two photos and the SG for them runs right in the center of nephrite BUT so do a lot of other green stones that I have found. I believe some is actually nephrite but I am also pretty sure that there is peridot or epidot and others in the mix. Some was tested and did not show any nephrite but I did not label them good enough soooooo my mistake still leaves me in the dark.
I have a friend on another forum that finds a lot of nephrite in that upper left corner of Washington on the beach and in the rivers and streams so I know there is a lot of it there. If you get stuck I will see if I can get you in touch with him to see how close you are to the same area. I am sure he can take one look at it and tell you if it is nephrite or not because he has picked up tons of it. Jim

Edit Just saw it. Doesn't look a whole lot different for this one! I can't find a picture of the other one dry, it's tumbling right now again. It looks like pea soup - milky yellowy green, but still a little glossy. Not like frosted glass. Smooth. My purple rock is separate from the green ones, I've been trying to get a picture of it down to a size where I can post it. I dont have a picture of it dry either, though. It doesn't scratch either. Metal residue left on it.
