I just needed and wanted to add my "very nice job on the tumble batches AND the photography". What a great shine. You very definitely have the process down! Thanks for sharing with us.
Sorry about the dup. Sometimes the post doesn't show up right away and I think I missed the button. Obviously, I didn't!

Thanks for all of the nice words folks. As far as the camera work, I tend to be my own harshest critic, so your comments are duly noted and appreciated. Dave

What is #8, a colorful quartz or some kind of agate? Really pretty, it caught my eye in the group pic. Nice batch all around.

I think I got it among some Montana agates I received, so I was assuming it might have been just a different variety. Sabre52 , fossilman , captbob ...any help? ETA: Is this simply an agate that's been stained by minerals? Thanks. Dave

Very nice bunch of tumbles. I really like the Bots but all are fine. I clicked on the photos so I could enlarge them, which was thoroughly enjoyable... Know what you mean about being your own harshest critic. Rocks and pics all good!

Dave what kind of material is pic #7. I gotta find some of that, as always great job ! Thank you. If I recall correctly, it is known as Larsonite and/or Gary Green Jasper. While it did take a polish, it doesn't tumble well - soft in some areas and can develop pits and such. I actually went through a fair amount just to get a few finished stones. It's probably better for cabbing. Thanks for asking. Dave

Hi Frank, I'm no professional either and am a newb to the "nth" degree. I got this stuff from drocknut and decided to take my chances with it. The right part of the material (the green colored stuff) takes a polish, but any of the browns don't do well with tumbling. I happen to like the color, and I have a few more pieces, so we'll see how well it turns out. Best regards. Dave

Great batch! What's the material in 7? I think I need to get my hands on some!
Edit: Didn't see the second page here, already answered! Any good sources for it?

I really should have went up and read through this page lol. I'm trying to get a really colorful first few batches. I'm thinking all the colors of the rainbow. I got some great Lavic from some gentleman. Yellow and green are high on my list now!

I had never tumbled the Gary Green I got so didn't know if it would do well or not. I know some of the Gary Green I got was fractured but there are some nice solid pieces too. I like the color too.

I lucked out in finding the stuff as it just turned up on the board. I'd say just keep your eyes open and perhaps check eBay. I know that's a crapshoot, but I've had some luck in getting a few things. Just check the feedback ratings and ask questions. ETA: You've probably got some yellows in what you have with the Lavic. As far as greens, perhaps adventurine and/or bloodstone. Dave
