I have a little over a pound of low grade MI Greenstone. Want to vibratory tumble in a gy rock to see if there is any turtle patterns. Any thoughts? Maybe 500 grit for a day or two?

That is one Michigan gem I do not have yet. A vendor at the show a couple weeks ago was selling it by the gram but I don't remember the cost. He had a dozen or so already dopped to the heads of nails. He said they are so small and soft that they only take a couple minutes to cab.
I do rotary tumble my Petoskey stones (soft) for a couple days in 60/90 to help in high grading them. After a couple days the nicely patterned ones really pop. I am unsure of the hardness of greenstone. Good luck and please post the results if you do it.

I would toss a half dozen or so in the bowl and fil it the rest of the way with beach pebbles for a trial run . One day in 120/220 should be fine for starters .

So much potential there and so much chance for error. Be careful is all I can say.

Nice article, hope some of the material comes looking half as good Hope all of it turns out good . Sounds like a touchy material , have you tried any on the wheels ? A friend of ours gave us a little bag of them but they are way too small for me to work at this point , lacking a whole bunch of experience .
