Your hive(s) Billy? Do you EVER sleep? I sleep when its dark plenty of time to sleep when I am dead, don't have any outdoor lighting. Yes my hives, been keeping bees for almost 30 years. All my hives are experimental and not the traditional type. Trying to breed a sturdy line of bees to withstand the northern climate. On a normal year they are pretty much done flying about now and dont fly again (and go to the bathroom) till we have a day 40 plus. Sometimes not until February.

Any advise for a suburban hive? I've always wanted a hive in my yard. easy peasy, bees like the urban invironment. So. CA killer bees could ruin your day. Don't take much room and they do most of the work once your set up. I would say get hives and frames and capture a swarm.

"Capture" means putting a lure of some kind on my hive setup? I may PM you.
