Hi, I'm very new to this and just got back from the coast near Jenner, Ca. We found some nice rocks to tumble but we're unsure of what most of them are. There are two in particular we're wanting to find out what they are. The first one is about 1.5 X 2 and appears to be a nice sized agate. Am I right? The second photo is a green stone that is somewhat translucent. Any help on these? Thanks in advance! Rick

The Russian River carries quite a few different minerals down from the hills, including kyanite, datolite, glaucophane, rosenhahnite, garnet, corundum, etc. Various serpentine types are frequent there also, and you might test for hardness. Serpentines tend to run about Mohs 4.
