Hello!
I've been lurking around this forum for about a month now and I've been learning quite a bit. I got my tumbler about a month ago, a Dr. Cool series model. It looks and functions exactly like the Nat Geo model. The instructions are the same to boot. 4-5 days the first run, 6-8 the second and 10-14 days the third and fourth runs. After reading around, I realized that this wasn't the best way to tumble rocks. I'm glad I started with the provided stones and not my collected ones from Mackinaw City. That would have sucked.
So, now I'm just waiting for some stones that I ordered from the Rock Shed to do some tumbling right and learn a lot
Just for the curious, I'm from Kalamazoo.

Welcome to the forum from Northern California!
You have made a good start. Be sure to tell us how you are progressing. I have found The Rock Shed to be my main Go-To place for rocks and grits/polishes... good quality material and reasonable prices.

Welcome. Also from Michigan (Metro Detroit area). Good luck with your tumble. Would like to see the rocks you collected in Mackinaw City. I was just there a couple days ago.

from Tennessee. Born and raised in Saginaw. Seems like we've had someone else from near Kalamazoo in just the last few weeks. I think Michigan wins the prize for most new members. Keep us updated on your progress.

Welcome to the forum from Alpena. What kind of rocks did you find in Mackinaw? I'm not entirely sure yet. My husband and I just sifted through the sand and grabbed a bunch. I'll have to take a picture of them and see if you guys can help me identify them. I got a few from Whitefish Point, but it was starting to rain and I didn't feel like hunting in the cold rain on Superior. Maybe next year.

Whitefish point has agates (not many though), but Mackinaw doesn’t. You probably picked up mostly quartz and granite.
