My awesome "rock" dog, Sierra gave me this today. Would appreciate help with ID. Appears to be a fossil with some gray/green quartz in some type of very soft host rock. I can scratch the host with my thumbnail. The round portion in photo 1 has a very distinct cell formation. Photo 2 shows what appears to be coral. Photo shows the gray/green quartz/chert type rock. It also contains some areas of red material. Photo 4 shows mostly the host rock. In the upper right corner more of the red is present. Thank you. 1 by Fernwood Acres, on Flickr 2 by Fernwood Acres, on Flickr 4 by Fernwood Acres, on Flickr 3 by Fernwood Acres, on Flickr

So your dog Sierra actually brought you that rock?!?!? That's awesome!! Yes, she has luxury outside accommodations. A large garage open on one side, plus another open garage which contains her house. Floor of one is uncovered, allowing her to dig in when it is hot outside. This is the 4th rock she has found. The others were great, too. She will pick up the smaller ones in her mouth and deposit them in my hand. If too large for that, she will bark a certain bark, and lead me to her find. She is purebred Husky and purebred German Shepherd cross. Very smart and loves me and all other "good people".

Is she considered a German Husky or a Siberian Sheppard? My American Bulldog has a knack for letting me know good people from bad. Always trust her 100%!

Dogs definitely have a special sense for telling good people from bad. Yes, trust them explicitly!

Agree. I was a board member and volunteer at a no-kill animal shelter/horse rescue/retirement home for many years. We worked with regional PD's, so saw a lot. Many of these "vicious" dogs came to us and eventually learned to trust others. All were very good character judges. I have 3 rescue animals presently, Sierra being one of them.
