We were discussing these on a couple of threads. I got these from accidentalrockhound . Tommy was trying to id something similar. Sabre52 and rockpickerforever were helping with the id. One of these is obviously an agate body with patterns of jasper throughout and one is a straight up jasper. I do not believe it is rhyolite, though I could be wrong. However, looking at it closer in person, it looks like the lt khaki green background could be rhyolite. It polished differently, too. Both polished extremely well. I much prefer the jasper variety, though the agate has a lot of depth.

OH wow, that's pretty stuff. I agree with you the jasper looks a lot nicer - more well-defined roses.

Wow, you are such a great cabber! I've not seen any quite like your agate variety, though I have heard it termed Rosebud Agate. Both cabs are beautiful, but like you, I much prefer the light green background jasper type. To confuse the issue, there used to be ( extinct now?) an agate type from the South Cadys near Ludlow too called rosebud or rose agate. And there is a rhyolite type from Afton Canyon but without green. I went and forgot a sixty pound boulder of the Ludlow stuff in the garden when I moved to Texas. The Ludlow material is very pitty though and is best done as a doublet...Mel

That be it! If I could cab as well as you, Tela, it would look just like that!
I have not yet tried it, but looks to me like the green is a bit softer. The orange rosebuds are breathtaking!
You did a great job with both types.

Very nice! I was waiting for these. I really like this material. Nice variety of color in it. In the bunch i have there is a nice assortment of agety and jaspery types. The first piece i ever seen i thought it was a type of dino bone. I will post pictures of the rough uncut stuff on the id thread. Them shapes are sure nice you did an excellent job on them.

I really like it, too and I thank you for turning me onto it. When I got the box, a little piece was broken off the slab, but by golly, I'm gonna cab that, too. Love it! Can't wait to see your pictures!

I had this laying around for some time now, not sure what it's called. Is this rose bud? or just some conglomerate.
