The three gallon buckets from the donut shop are the best! Strong buckets with lids, and cleaned out to boot for a buck and a half. Even cleaned, they smell wonderfully like diced apples, chocolate and raspberry filling, etc. So much better than pickles, lol. And a three gallon bucket full of prospecting dirt is so much easier to lift (by this senior citizen) than a full 5 gallon bucket. Why, it weighs 3/5 as much!
Over the summer, I bought 50 lbs of 30 grit SiC from Kingsley North, it fits into a five gallon bucket.
Good to know how much grit fits in the 5g buckets. I plan on ordering in bulk as soon as I start to get low. Most of those that tumble use a lot of coarse grit melf77. Much less of the fine grits. 5 gallon will be about 2/3 full with 50 pounds SiC 30. Perfect.
