When I checked out the intarsia, I saw messy work with glue showing. Your work would be clean and well presented. Thanks for the vote of confidence Pat, I appreciate it.

That would depend on how clean you want it. The clean water drip eliminates the need for frequent clean outs like with Genie pans, but the Genie disassembles easily for cleaning. There are some spots around the edge of the pan and under the front that will require the motor base be separated from the pan, but it takes 4 wing nuts to do that. So I'm going to say a little more work than a Genie but less than every other cabbing unit or flat lap I've owned.

I'm pretty excited!

Hurray! I expect a full write up when it arrives! Pat's right - you'll be able to make beautiful classy intarsia pieces that will sell well. Just stick with soft materials at first and simple designs - they're pretty fast to make.

I'm with Pat, people who can afford it look for quality.

Make it out to Al Sesona Grinders. Have you spoke with him on the phone yet? If not you should, he's pretty old school.

I've been emailing with him. I had a few questions. The basic unit DOES come with a 180 disc and he will swap it out for another grit if you want.
I was surprised that you can't purchase online, only with check through the mail. I don't mind, but it will slow things down and I really want it yesterday. LOL!
Here's hoping that I like doing intarsia!

I should mention that this is the first time that being on the east side of the Mississippi saved me on shipping cost. $40 east and 80 west of.

Since I don't know where else to ask this- I'll just ask here. For the real black rock used in intarsia frames is it basalt or basenite or are they the same thing?

Not the same. Backing on mine is basenite. Cheaper than the black jade on the front.

rockjunquie I'm writing him a check. Very odd, but do-able. Eager to get it. Husband and daughter were going to order online Sunday night. When I learned (here) that it wasn't that easy or by the normal method, I decided I had better go ahead and do it. Husband and daughter agreed. Appreciate all the information.
