Hi everyone , I'm Steve I live north of kingman, Arizona and I'm looking for new friends to go out rock hounding with. I don't like going out in the mountains or desert alone, just not as much fun. I new to this board so I'm still trying to figure it out. I'm not computer literate and a new laptop. need I say more ? ha ha hope to hear from some folks on local rock hounding events....did I miss the burro creek weekend and when is the next one? thanks steve

Welcome to RTH. I plan to make some trips that way in the near future. There are a couple of spots down that way I have been wanting to check out.
Our club as a trip planned to Burro Creek, but I do not recall when.

I go to AZ every winter. Maybe you can tag along for a while, if you can keep up with an old half used up old vet.

Lots of vets around. I was a submariner. A bit out of my way to get down there but I do try to head south in the winter months. Just need to keep finding destinations worth hitting.

Vegas James, Do you have a quad? I know of some good spots between Dolan Springs and Henderson....on the Arizona side of the river. Temple Bar Rd. off of hwy 93 N. about 2 to 3 miles down temple bar rd. on the left side there is an old pristine wagon trail.... on the right side you can find 2 dirt roads to the wash.... one road follows the power lines...that one is ok. but there is another rd. farther down temple bar rd. to the right...with a pull off area....very sandy..be careful where you park.there may be some pet wood in the wash...but if you follow the rd. about 1/4 to 3/4 miles and look on the ground youll find very nice specimens on pet wood. there are other spots farther back in about 3 to 5 miles where you can find pet wood tumbled to river rock, lots of agate and jasper as well. I have found artifacts, flint knapped tools, grinding stones and other things between temple bar. Rd. and Dolan Springs, both in the White Hills, and on the other side in the Black Mountains. but you deffinately need a 4 x 4 or quad to get back in the deep parts of the hills and mountains. talk to you soon Steve

56steve if you can make it, our annual meetup in quartzsite is guaranteed to hook you up with a few new rockhounding buddies. I'd love to come up to your hunting grounds but it's just so hard for us to get out lately - everything has to be planned around finding care coverage for momma. A year ago I could up and take off at the drop of a hat - can't do that anymore.

I only have a two wheel drive truck though. My main interest down that way are the turquoise mines. Have two spots still to check out that I have not got to yet.
