There has been a momma cat hanging around with two kittens. One kitten disappeared. Probably dead. The other now appears to be mommaless. It was in the low 30's last night. It was crying in our yard for hours. Despite my reservations about another pet, we went ahead and scooped it up and warmed it up. It seems to be about 3 to 4 weeks old. BIL is a cat rescuer. He's coming over to help out. It may need a milk/food slurry through a syringe. Granddaughter has named the as yet unknown sexed kitten, Bailey.

You did the right thing. I've lost count of how many I've taken in since childhood. My mom always protested, lightly, but always allowed it. Now, as a parent, I'd rather see my children with kind hearts, so it's hard to say no.

That’s how we got most of our pets. All cats, and the one squirrel which was dropped by a hawk by front door.

My Dr. Doolittle BIL just left. He gave HER a bath, flea combed her, cleaned out her ears and feed her some watered down kitten food. We have to stimulate her to get her to do her business, but she'll learn. She has her own comfy, warm cage where she is enjoying a well deserved sleep. Even Cat seems to like her.

I'm sure she will appreciate everything that was done for her. But to loose her mama and get a bath all in the same day. Tough love!

She was still pretty cold even after she was in a while. Cats like pretty warm temps. The bath was just what she needed to bring her temp up. She didn't fuss, at all. She even got a warm hair drying. We took turns feeding and stimulating her last night and this morning. She actually went poo in her little box on her own. YAY!

Our cat died a while back, she'd been a stray that we took in. You did the right thing, we see cats disappear in our neighborhood all the time, the desert is no place or outdoor cats!

It's tough to lose a pet. There are many birds of prey around here, too. We think that's what happened to the other kitten. We have had so many strays and shelter pets. Never regretted it.
