Lots of fine granite here in Ontario. I haven't cabbed any, but the bright red material we find on our beaches can tumble up quite nicely, unless it has too much mica in it. Keep an eye out for "unakite" - red or pink granite cut by veins of green epidote, marvelous material that we find on the north shore of Lake Superior!
The graphic granite is a favorite of mine, but I've yet to find a good locality for it, seems pretty rare.
You may not have a lot of cutting rough to collect near home, but there's plenty of amazing things to collect all over Europe, so join a club, go to as many rock shows as you can, and you'll find some neat stuff.

My inlaws live in Sedelia MO and I stopped at a landscaping place that had rocks. I picked up two pieces of Graphic Granite for $0.80/lb. I have never seen it anywhere else for sale.
